How the heck do I changed out the front bumpstops? I wanna put the extended ones in there while i have the jeep torn apart for the snork.. do they just pop out or do i have to pry them or what ????

They are a bit tricky. Use a HD thick flathead screwdriver to remove the old one. To install the new one, I use the backend of a short shovel with the tire on. Greasing the bumpstop helps send it home easier.

I used a screwdriver & a prybar to get the stock ones out and back in again. Levering the prybar against the coil spring helps get it into place. Oh yeah, I used some soap to lubricate the bumpstop in too.

I just pried the old ones out with a couple large flat screwdrivers as previously stated. Then to install the new ones, run hot water over them for 5-10 minutes. This makes them more pliable and go in easier, especially if you're installing them in the middle of winter. Finally just before putting them in, lube the pockets on the vehicle up with dishsoap.

Simple. In 6 easy steps:

1. Jack-up the front of the vehicle and put it on jack-stands on both sides.
2. Take off the front wheels.
3. Take a pair of channel-locks, grab the OEM bumpstop towards one end and yank down. Repeat on the other side.
4. Take the aftermarket bumpstop, coat the part that has to go into the mount with some dishwashing liquid, and hammer it in with a rubber mallet. Repeat on the other side.
5. Put the wheels back on.
6. Lower vehicle.

Use some dish soap for lube. If using grease make sure it's the right one, some grease tends to ruin rubber.

I didnt get any bumpstops with my daystar lift.. Anyone know where I can get a set? I heard that TerraFlex and Daystar both stopped making the spacer kits. is that rght?

I just did it with elbow grease no tools.

To remove I grabbed the top edge on the back side of the bumpstop with my finger tips, both hands and pulled hard down and towards me, mostly towards me.

To install I first seated the back of the bumpstop, grabbed the bottom on the back side of the bumpstop and pulled it hard towards me and up, again more towards me then up.

It takes a good quick hard yank to both remove and put in, but it is do-able with out tools.

I got mine from TrailQuest (Wow!!!! The price on these has sure gone up in the past year -- I don't think I paid more than $18 each 12 months ago!!!):

Price is about a dollar more each than JBA but they have free shipping on all Teraflex orders in the continental U.S.

I am guessing it probably comes out pretty close...

We need a Daystar dealer to hound Daystar to sell their bumpstops as a kit. I know they make them. They were part of the KJ09115BK kit. That is the only kit that came with them though, and they don't offer that kit anymore. Since we seem to have such a demand, seems like they would just sell them. I will try to get back in contact with the guy at Daystar that got mine for me. Maybe they can sell them alone.

Edit - Just sent them a message. I suggested that they sell them thru All J's or JeepinByAl... We will see what they reply.

That would be great.. You had to go through ll that trouble to get your bumpstops? Let me now what you find out.

Well, I ordered the 116 kit instead of the 115 kit at Daystar customer service recommendation. Ten found out they were the same, minus the bumpstops and swaybar bushings. They were happy to give them to me after a little explaining...

opefully they will give me some as well, I just wrote an email explaining pretty much the same situation. Do you 4wd your KJ often?

Actually have NEVER 4WD'ed mine. HeHe... It is a 2WD. But I am starting to off-road it a little. Nothing major of course. I am a complete noob when it comes to offroading. But I'm sure that will change. Going to try to see how far you can push a 2WD KJ. :P

i was lookin at somethin for the 231 transfer case earlier today, it's along lines of a dual stick conversion, gives you a 2-Lo in addition to your 4-Hi and 4-Lo but effectively puts your front driveline in neutral

I still have the original OEM bumpstops. Never felt the need to replace them.
