I just received a TeraFlex spacer lift for Christmas after my wife went to a local 4x4 shop and told them what I had and they said it was the best thing out there.
My questions are:
Is the Teraflex spacer kit worth a darn?
Will it give me a decent amount of flex?
Should I take it back and get something else (Daystar,Rusty's)?
Will the Rusty's Coil lift work?
Where do babies come from?

With a CRD I'd opt for the high-end Daystar lift. It's a more complete kit.

Any Daystar owners want to chime in?

I would really like the Rusty's spring lift, just afraid of sagging in the front..... I know it is only 200 pounds difference. I want to lift it once and not have to worry about it.

First of all, congrats on finding a wife that will buy you Jeep stuff.

That being said, most spacer lifts work pretty well, especially the less-aggressive ones. AFAIK, there is no spring lift that will work well w/a CRD (those 200 lbs. make a big difference), so if I were you I'd be inclined to install the Teraflex spacers until a spring lift comes along.

Or, if money is no object, return the Teraflex kit and then call All-J and have them hook you up. Maybe they can come up with a better configuration.

Or maybe keep the Teraflex spacers, get a pair of HD OME springs (stiffer than OEM) for the rear to add a bit of lift to the spacers, and do a clevis lift in front. I think that'd give you an extra 1/2-3/4". And you could keep the wife's gift (and stay out of the dog house. :D )

No spacer lift will improve flex. Yes you get more travel by getting a longer shock in the rear, but that isn't the lift giving you the flex. It's the shock. If all you want is travel, do a full coilover (probably out of budget as just the rears will run you $1000). But you will get lift and anywhere from 12-16 inches of travel which is quite impressive since most of us make due with maybe 10 inches from the Frankenlift. Sorry bud.

Thank you for the replys. I think I will stay with the Teraflex spacers for now. No one has said anything bad about the Teraflex spacers, so I guess they are not that bad. They will give me the added clearance I need to run it offroad. If I (wife) decide that I (she) wants to get more serious equipment.

Merry Christmas to all

Allen

No, no, no. You're going to get him in trouble. Babies come when husbands and wifes share the same toilet seat. That's what my parents told me. Boy did I freak out one time when my big sister went into my parent's bathroom!

Man I hate to say this but ...if the 4x4 shop is telling you this is the best out for a KJ...THEN GOT TO ANOTHER SHOP.

Sorry I just had tio say that out loud. There are all kinds of great KJ lifts out there and this is like the bottom of the list. Sorry I am not trying to bash anyone for getting this but the 4x4 shop is so far off base on this they have NO CLUE what the hell they are talking about. Hope this helps. later...Clint

They probably based their opinion of the kit based on Teraflex's many great suspensions for the TJ and XJ and such. The spacer kits like to cause strut problems. They don't perform well off road either. Before ya'll go bashing me, I just installed a 2.5 spacer kit I got for Christmas. It's a temporary think untill I can afford my Frankenlift (6-8 months away). Since most of what I do is mud, I don't need a whole lot of travel, just clearance and big aggressive tires.

I am installing it tommorow, not as a permenant fix, but as a short term lift until some more products come out for the CRD

I had the 2" Teraflex BB as a short-term fix as well (just to fill time between uninstalling a Skyjacker lift and installing the Frankenlift) . It was mediocre at first. Within a couple months (after killing your struts) it rides terribly. Sorry to say...I wouldn't wish that kit on my worst enemy. Get rid of it ASAP. The Daystar 2.5" would be a much better option for your CRD.

BTW, the spacers are not even close to the same as Daystar as somebody mentioned above. In front they are metal and Daystars are poly. Also the Daystar comes with the top strut relocation bracket which is the real beauty of that kit (no such luck with the Teraflex).

Good luck.

Luckly, I haven't had time to install it yet. After reading this:

I think I might wait and exchange it for a Daystar Lift.

I'm glad you saw my post in time! It really isn't a popular lift at all. I think I'm one of the only ones who ran it and it was the same sort of deal. I needed a quick fix and a local shop said it would be good. Teraflex makes good stuff for other Jeeps, but not for the KJ.

Thanks Skyjump

The Daystar is about the same price as the TeraFlex, so I should be able to exhange it.

Talked with the guys at Tarheel 4wd and they said they will exhange the TeraFlex lift for the Daystar for no additional cost. Should be in on Thursday and I hope to have it on before next week. Pictures to follow.
