| Post subject: | Daystar 2.5/alignment |
I'm expecting my lift to arrive on wednesday. I'd like to try to install it before the weekend. However, I'm sure I won't have time to get the alignment by the time we head north. I'm wondering just how much it will mess up the alignment. I know it will need it, but would it be out enough to not be able to drive it up north for the weekend or should I just wait on the lift until next week? Thanks for any input. |

I would def wait. I'd hate to do a lift, not realign, then drive far. Your tires would be shot for sure. |

How does it handle? Does it pull to the left or right? Is it noticeable? Are you noticing wear on your tires do to the lack of alignment? |

On my KK, I drove for a week after my daystar lift. It was off camber, as far as handling, it seemed more responsive actually. The tires are going to take the brunt of it. I think your suspension should be fine. |

I just did my daystar lift 3 months ago and I did do my alignment directly after. Yet the shop failed to tell me my balljoints were shot.I got my balljoints done under warranty. Then 800 miles went by before I really started noticing any wear or any pull. I took the jeep back to the alignment shop and they did the alignment for free since they didnt do it correctly the first time I would suggest you get the alignment IMMEDIATLY afterwards and make sure they balance the tires good. I dont like seeing my jeep everyday and my rear tires are cupped now cause of that lil stint. |

Depending on your spring sag(since the daystar retains your OEM coils) is how much your alignment will be off.If your springs are really sagging and you have not had it aligned in the last year or so your camber and toe will not be off to bad(bad enough for some bad tire wear and handling). If your springs have not sagged very much your camber and toe will be out by alot and fast tire death will result along with a very funny handling vehicle. |

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I knew I shouldn't drive it without the alignment. Just wishful thinking that I might be able to get away with it. But it's not worth the wear on brand new tires. I really wanted to have the lift in place before we head up north for the holiday weekend. |

well i guess it depends on what time you get the lift on right? only takes about 30-60 mins to get an alignment my camber was pretty bad after my lift, and it's not perfect now but it's good |

Lift didn't arrive until Thursday. I worked from 4am until 9pm, so lift didn't get installed. Soooo, I have a lift sitting on my garage floor just waiting for the weekend. I think we'll be installing a Daystar lift in GeoKnight's KJ this weekend too. There will be pics... And here they are: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=488454#488454 |
