Is there a bull bar for a 2006 Liberty? I was looking at one at Rusty's but it looks like it only fits 01-04. I want something that has a bar that goes to the top of the hood so I can tie my kayak without rubbing the paint.

Unfortunately most bull bars / brush guards are for esthetics only and wouldn't provide a good tie down point.

I had the mopar bull bar on my 02 for a few years, definately not mounted adequitely to use for pushing, pulling, or as a tie down. On top of that the mopar tubular bull bar rusted from the inside out in under 3 years.

Doesn't it mount to the frame? I have the kayak tied down to the roof rack. I just want a little to take some stress off the roof racks.

The bottom brackets normally go into your stock factory tow hook mounts, and this is where 90% if not all of the support for the bull bar comes from. The top brackets go through the grill and string accross to each other, or in some cases the mount for the hood latch.

Pretty much asthetics only. And if you are willing to pay $250-$450 for a bull bar, I'd save up the extra and get an ARB bumper that will definately serve your purpose and then some, or maybe get something fabricated.

What I do is tie it to the tow hooks with a flat strap. (not rope) But I cut a couple of real heavy socks and run them up the strap and set them on the hood where the straps would hit and rub. Then tighten the straps. Then they are cushioned. They need to be real xtra heavy cotton socks.

The other thing you could try it get a couple of those seat belt cushons that are heavy fleese...they have velcro that fastens them. I got a set of them but have not tried them yet.

Just some thoughts.
