Anybody else heard anything about this?

http://www.tellico4x4.com/product_info.php/products_id/39765

Any comments (besides the fact that it is not a WARN)...

I notice this is coming right on the heels of the Superwinch Epi9.0S which also is a synth rope package...

darn!! For that price, you can't beat it!! Yeah, it's not a warn, that winch probably won't last 20 years....but who cares?? That's a steal with synthetic line!!

I mean, if you're doing competition, don't get this winch. But for the occasional pull, probably not all that hard either, this winch will most likely be perfect, and it leaves you with more moeny in your wallet! The line speed isn't going to be as fast, but who cares, it will get you out!!

There are a lot of cheaper winches on the market these days and they're all pretty good. They're not warns, they're not as bullet proof as a warn, but how many people really need that level of toughness??? For something that you'll use maybe once or twice every month or so, this is perfect. Warns are key if you're using them a lot and beating on them. With this winch, and really any other electric winch for that matter, you don't want to pull multiple people up a hill or out of a mud hole all in a row. That would most likely kill this winch. Hell, even most warn electrics it will fry the relays. If you want to pull the whole club out of a mud hole or up a tough spot, use a milemarker hydraulic. For the occasional stuck, occasional hairy situation, or whatever, this is a great deal for the money!!

Oh, just one more thing, I would try to keep it out of the elements to make it last. Get a winch cover for it....it will thank you.

I think it's nice but i would be very upset to blow 400 bucks when it took a crap. That said if you took care of it, as mentioned, and stored it indoors etc or put a cover on it, well, who knows.

I've owned 4 winches over the years. Yes Warn is the best and is what I currently own, but the cheaper winches work fine. This is a good deal and you will get several years of service out of it. I would suggest a cover just to keep it looking nice. Unless your going to get stuck everyday, pull vehicles out 5 times everyday, or travel to the Aussie outback 600 miles from a tow truck, this winch will be fine. If I didn't already have a Warn I would buy it. I've been looking at budget items now that my income has changed and this would be a great budget winch! I've even used the $299 Harbor Freight winch and it worked to unstick in a pinch.

Thanks all. That is really good advice about the cover, but I may not end up needing one.

I already have installed a 2" Front Receiver Hitch (Thanks, Landy) and bought JJKJ's WARN Receiver Hitch Cradle, so....

You get the idea...

It will probably spend most of its time stored in the cargo area with the tool box under the cargo net...

::Sigh:: More money I was not intending to spend before I start school...

I Know,.... Just Empty Every Pocket...

That deal looks a lot like the XRC-8 Comp Series package.

Good catch, Inc.

It also turns out that the plot thickens. The XRC-8 (not the Comp) is built using MileMarker parts:

Wonder why one is rated at 8500 lbs. and the other at 8000 lbs.???

What if I could get you a deal on this: http://www.gorecon.com/product.php?pk=294&pname=264100PPW+++++++++++++++++-+10%2C500LB+Pro+Performance+Series+Winch

I am working with this company now. You'll notice that it's rated higher than the other: 10,500lbs. It's rated at 12V not 16V - 18V many others use. It has a very fast line speed which rivals WARN. Is rated as waterproof. Comes with synth line and wireless remote.

The winches are a product of 2 yrs of R&D. MSRP $699.

You'd be getting a great winch and you'll be helping out a good friend. 8)
