Well, I came home from a ski vacation and found my Kilby tank skid in the garage. I quickly unpacked my skis and broke out the tools. Summary: - that's one HEAVY skid! 60 lbs. v. the stock 28 lbs. - very tough skid. - very tough bolt, that front pass side one under the exhaust. Especially when I cannot find my 18mm box wrench! - plenty of room between skid and diff guard. Oh, and yes, with the additional 32 lbs, my KJ is now over 4,700 lbs without me in it! |

darn, what do you need all the equipment for at the mall? ![]() Mine weights about 4250-4300 now, when it was bone stock it weighed about 4050. I now have boulder bars, factory skids, a tranny skid, rear hitch, plus 245/75/16s. Both are without any cargo inside. |

So does the Kilby tank on a KJ give you any extra clearance like it does on a TJ? I noticed it doesn't mention any clearance on the website for the KJ so I'm guessing it doesn't. Happy new year Chris |

I forgot to mention that with my 210 lbs I add, my KJ is probably headed in the direction of 5000lbs as well! Bad gas mileage... ![]() ![]() |

I feel the best the Kilby skid is one of the best gas tank skids on the market for any Jeep and the KJ one is for dang sure at the top of the list. Unlike theTJ and a few of the others...it does not raise the tank any higher.. because the tank is mounted to the bottom of the cargo area in the rear of the KJ... BUT... As far as a gas tank skid go...the Kilby skid is placed very high and also has great reliefs angles on the front and rear. It is powder coated, and very well designed, and is VERY strong. It is tucked higher on the KJ than all the other skid. Yea you can pick up the factory one for 25 bucks...But if you are wanting to add a gas tank skid that you never have to worry about...put it on one time and forget it...Then the Kilby skid is the way to go for sure. Later...Clint |

I bring mine to my client, who's a moving company with a scale for 18 wheelers. I noticed that it's in 20 lb increments though. I know my town dump has a scale too for public use. DMV sent me there with my home made trailer for weighing. |
