Post subject:  Rear spring replacement advice

Hey guys...

I still have my factory rear springs in (non-prelowered). When I got my first lift I got spacers in the back, and when I got my Frankenlift I got the "front only" version and left the back alone.

Now my Jeep has 109,000 miles on the original rear springs and the back is sitting about 1.5" lower than the front these days (even with the spacer and two upper iso's). I'd like to replace my rear springs with something that will bring the rear at least level with the front, maybe a touch higher.

Should I:

A) Buy new factory height springs and retain the spacers
B) Buy new 2" lift springs and make up the rest with islators
C) Find 3" lift springs somewhere (I'll need your suggestions)
D) None of the above (you suggest something else)

Thanks for your input!

For reference measuring from the middle of the wheel to the bottom of the flare I am at 23 inches, thats with tools, recovery stuff , CO2 Tank, camping chairs etc . I just replaced my rear springs with ( of course) OME 948s and two isolators after 97000 on the other lifted ones

The 4 inch from JBA will lift even more of course, Towstrap has these in his now but carries I think 10,000 lbs of tools , ham radio equipment and other stuff!
stock springs are almost the same price as OME so I would of course go with the latter.

Tom,

You have the OME 948's and two isos and that's all? Yours sits a bit higher in the rear than the front, right? So I figure if I get the OME 948's and use one iso I should be pretty much level? I don't carry anything back there except a strap, a shovel and a fire extinguisher.

On levle ground mine is 3/4 of an inch higher right now. I am going to switch out my worn out fronts soon and be back level hopefully.

If thats all you carry yes I would do one and see how it sits, but it should be pretty good

Cool, thanks. Cheapest place to get OME 948's? I saw JBA had them for $151 a pair I think...

Does anyone know if there is a code unique to pre-lowered rear springs found on the early 2002 models? Like on that little blue tag on factory parts...

Image

Is there a code that tells if it's a pre-lowered spring vs. a lowered spring?
