I just replaced my coils, struts and shocks with OME parts. I got a lot more lift in the rear, but only about 1/2" more inthe front from what i did have. The shop that did the install would not do a clevis lift, which, in effect, left the front at about the same height as before the new parts. So now the rear sits about 2" higher than the front. Should i re-do the clevis lift or install strut plates to get more up front? And has anyone done both?

Put in at least 3 conduit nuts for the clevis that should get you up pretty close
Top plate 1/4 inch thick will get you another 1/2 inch if you need it

Re-used the stock plate. Previous setup was a Rusty's coil lift w/ clevis lift.

So, Tom, its OK to do both?

sure mines been running with a 3/8 inch top plate (RRO style) and a "few" conduit nuts for several thousand miles now

Thats really odd how youre front is the same height. my front has always been higher than my rear. Even when I switched from my daystar to OME HD, the heights were both the same before and after, so I added 2 extra iso's and now im level.

So my guess is to add the RRO/rustys/daystar top plate plus clevis and see what happens

There's an ARB bumper and a winch hanging off the front of mine. I think i should have gotten the CRD springs instead of the ones I got. But these are what ARB recommended.

should've went with OME790's if you have an ARB and winch... then maybe a strut plate. i believe HOOD is running that set up and loves it. i replaced my OME HD's with the 790's in my frankenlift and it's perfect

That's what i thought i was getting. But the shop that did the work, an ARB dealer, said ARB recommended the OME927s. I can't afford any more expense to have him switch them out, now.

I just called ARB America and asked their opinion. They did indeed recommend the OME927s, and said the 790 were for the diesel, and would provide "too much lift" and would cause the CV axles to be at too much of an angle.

Although I love all of ARB products sometimes I think they are way on the side of being too safe. You can run the CRD OME springs since a few have done it with no problems with an ARB bumper and winch.

How long have you had the 927s in there now? If you had a buyer for the springs would you consider switching them out? If you were closer I could make you a deal!   The set of OME/CRD springs sitting in my garage would not be missed for a few weeks

Just had them installed two weeks ago. One trail ride on them. Its not so much the cost of the springs - I think there's little difference in the price of them - but the labor i've already invested. I'm just cheesed off at myself for not looking at what he ordered before he installed them. But yes, I would love to swap them out.

Just to be a nice guy I will give you 160 shipped to me when you swap them out in the next week
I need a pair of 927s and would rather help you out than some dealer!

That would be a good deal, except there's no way i can get them off that soon without paying a shop to do it. And my wife would blow a gasket if I told her i needed to spend another $300 to put different springs on the Jeep when I just spent $1500 on it two weeks ago.

yea im running OME 790's # conduit nuts for clevis lift, and the rustys upper strut plate. with OME 948's in the rear with 2 upper Iso's I am at perfect height.

I have an ARB and Warn M8000 and i couldnt be happier with this setup onroad and off.

So I went back to the shop that put on the lift. He agreed to exchange the 927s and install the 790s. And he will put on a spacer plate. The thing is he gave me the lengths and spring rates for each spring. The 927s are 394mm tall free standing, and have a 400lb rate. The 790s are a little shorter, 378mm tall, and have a 500lb rate. Both are stated in the catalog to give a maximum 40mm of lift, or about 1.6 inches. That being the case, we both wondered how the 790s would actually give me any more lift. Maybe Tom or Troy could chime in.

The lift you are getting is from the spring being a higher rate OME 790s at 500 lb -vs- the 927s at 400 lb. This means that with the exact amount of weight on each spring the 790s (for example sake) would go down 1/2 where as the 927s would go down by 1 inch. These are not actual amounts just trying to explain how it works. Even though the 790 is shorter it will hold more weight than the 927 thus will stay higher

It will work out.

Oh the stated rates would be for one amount for the 927s and another for the 790s would not be say 1000 lb on each

Hope that makes sense. Brain is not working after 3 beers and some great barbecue!

Thanks Tom. Make sense to me. So you would suggest I take the shop up on their offer to swap the 927s for the 790s, and add the top spacer plate?
