Post subject:  More Lift!

Hey, Everybody! Live from Iraq! While walking to the Chow Hall earlier today I spotted a Jeep Liberty ('03 I believe) and it made me terribly miss "Black Betty", so I decided to spend the last few hours looking for new goodies to buy her when I get back. I currently have OME HD Coils, Rancho RSX Shocks & Struts, & TerraFlex & DayStar Bump Stops in the way of a lift.... And I want more! What else could I do to gain some more lift? I've read lightly into a clevis lift, etc..., but if I could get some fairly detailed suggestions to gain another 1/2" - 1", I'd appreciate it!

tommudd will chime in sooner or later with more details. but you can do a clevis (conduit nuts between the clevis fork and strut) and an upper strut plate (goes on top where you bolt the 4 studs up through the strut tower. these two things will give you atleast an 1 to 1.5in of lift depending on how many clevis nuts you use (i've heard 3-4 is max). then you'll want to level it out in the rear with some extra rear isolators (uppers) you can add 2 but i'd try 1 to begin with.

and thank you for your service !

Thanks for the quick and informative response... I like the plan... It seems pretty simple. I might just have to do this when I get back on mid-tour leave... :D

the only thing im not sure of is what thickness of a top spacer you'd want to use.

You can add three 2" conduit nuts to each side on the strut and then a 1/4" or 5/16" or a 3/8" top plate just make sure you dont do too much lift and start breaking suspension parts

With the stock top plate you can run a 3/8 inch thick spacer which gives you double that amount of lift.
Clevis yes they say 3 max, BUT I know some who are running more than that  ( although their springs are sagging some) they have had no problems for over 20,000 miles
I think the main thing here you want to consider is how high you are right now. It seems from my experiments over the last 130,000 miles that when you get up at about 23 inches bottom of the flare to the middle of the wheel then CVs start to grumble some and its time for shaved CVs or just keep it at or below that.
Keep up the good work over there!
Hope we have been able to help you some from here in the good old USA!

Tom

Anybody got a link to a strut spacer so I can get an idea what I'm looking for? Would it be installed in addition to what's already there or be a replacement?

Heres a picture of what they look like, two of these are from Rustys, they are 1/4 inch think other two are like what RRO sells and they are 3/8 inch thick

these just sit on top of the upper mount between it and the unibody
