How long has this been out?

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetai ... =32&N=700+

I assume it will not work with the D30a, does anyone know?

I'd like to know if it works with the 30a also. I'm thinking this would be perfect for my needs. I'm getting the rear rebuilt as soon as the rest of the parts arrive, and will be rebuilding the front before long with some JE Reel CVs, hopefully a diff collar, and a selectable locker.

It says Dana 30, Not a dana 30a. Big difference. Won't fit in a KJ.

That's what I was afraid of. Guess it's the ARB and a Powertank then.

So does anyone know if it fits like the DTT does? Mine isn't a trail rig, it just gets into some really nasty snow and ice sometimes, so I don't need the ability to air down/up my tires and would prefer not to need the tank in the bank. The E-locker really looks good for what I want.

Mechanically the only difference between the two as I understand it is our 30a has a longer pinion gear shaft.
The ARB locker for the 30 fits our 30a, so the E-locker may also.

Nothing in the Detroit/Eaton lineup says it fits a Dana 30a. The DTT does work in the Liberty. Just asking about the Elocker.

There are several people on LOST with DTTs in the front. Just look around at the signatures.

I think it should work in the front axle, but you will need to drill and tap a hole for the wiring.

I'd pass on the E-locker,when unlocked it is a clutch based LSD which will wear out and need to be rebuilt at about 30,000 miles if not sooner. You will need to run friction modifier in the front gear oil and will cost just as much to install as the ARB air locker since a hole will need to be drilled through the housing.Plus not to many here in CO that have them think to highly of them. They are basically the cloned version of the Detroit E-locker,just stick with the DTT or ARB and you'll be much happier in the long run.

If you want a selectable, go ARB. The elocker you were looking at is around the price of an ARB and we all know they work and are the industry standard.

I thought the one that was LSD/Locked was the Auburn, and the Eaton was Open/Locked. I have SelecTrac and have been told that you do not want any kind of automatic locker with it, but don't know if that is correct. I'll probably only need a locker up front extremely rarely as I've never needed one at all so far. I just know that I will be very bad to deal with the day the Jeep won't get me to my skiing. Also, it can be modified, and being a Jeep therefore should be modified. I know how good ARB's are, and have seriously thought of getting one for the front. I just didn't want to lose the space in the back for a bottle like I did with the N2O when it was on the Jeep. I also don't like getting bottles refilled. I guess I could go with a small compressor instead. Do they make one small enough to hide someplace?

tjkj,
The Auburn Ected has a limited slip, I do not think the ELocker does, below is Eaton's description:

The ELocker’s electromagnetic locking mechanism is the next generation of aftermarket differential technology. Performs as an open differential until you decide that you need more traction. Eaton ELocker is your push button solution to almost any traction problem.

Designed expressly for 4-wheel drive systems to give you the ability to lock or unlock the differentials when necessary. When locked the Eaton ELocker performs as a full locker, capturing 100% of available torque and sending it equally to both ends of the axle.

The ELocker is built with precision-forged gears that are designed to mesh perfectly, providing improved strength and durability over a standard cut gear. Its ease of installation, reliability and push-button activation make ELocker an absolute must for all traction and off-road performance applications.

KY Liberty, the mini compressor for the ARB is the one you want. Exactly what you are looking for.

I looked into these a while ago. They weren't ready yet. I don't see why they wouldn't work in the D30a. I couldn't find an application guide like ARB has. Your just going to have to give them a call.

I'm sure their answer will be that they never tried it. don't recommend it. but don't let that deter you. ARB doesn't recommend using their locker in the d30a either.

Is there anything that says it doesn't?

To say "it doesn't fit" because it doesn't say it DOES fit is a little ridiculous. There are things that say they DO fit the D30A and they don't fit. This would lead me to believe otherwise.

Last I checked, the ARB locker for the D30 didn't specifically state "WILL FIT DANA 30A IN '02-7 KJS". Must mean it doesn't fit, right?

It may fit, it may not. The E locker has an odd shape to it. It's not as rounded as ours or the TT so it might not fit in the Aluminum housing.
Someone's going to have to fit one to see. It's not a Posi, that's the Auburn Gear unit. Works pretty similar to ours only it uses a magnet on a ball ramp. Less holding stength than an Air Locker, but a decent design minus the extra pinion gears we put in ours.

Think that answers those. Call Eaton and see if they've done a test fit.
