Post subject:  squeking, groaning bushings
I suppose they are in the suspension but when it is cold they creak. Sounds like my ancient Dodge (79). Is there something I can spray on these bushings to quiet it down and won't deteriorate them?

Would that be as in wd-40 or just any spray silicone? And would this by chance keep the rear bushings from wearing out?

Pull the sway bar apart and smear dialetric grese on the rubber bushing's that will get rid of the noise !!

For the longest time when I pass over a bump I've had an annoying squeak from the rear right hand side of my Libby. It started since I replaced the rear shocks to install a lift so I'm assuming it's the shock bushing on that side. This weekend if the weather ever warms up I'm going to crawl under my Libby with a can of silicone spray and put a stop to it.

Silicone is easier than grease but will most likely be washed away sooner.
But you can try a trick we used to use....drill a small hole in the bushing just big enough for a spray can extension. Drill all the way thru the bushing. Get the spray grease and let er rip.

Thats the thing about Silicone, if you use it frequently enough it takes longer to wash away. WD 40 will wash off on the first soak down.

Every fall this comes along, If you want to over do it but no to worry about for a long time try this.

I know I am a little anal on general maintenace items BUT with each oil change etc I do this ( spray silicone on mving parts) and I have never had any squeaks at all. A lot of people complain about it, but then they go out play in the dirt and don't clean the undercarriage good enough so of course somethings going to happen

So next time you change your oil, or rotate your tires take 5 more minutes to hit some key points with some silicone, even do the window channels/ weather stripping :wink:
