Post subject:  Help Locating Problem Noise

Hi all,

I have a metallic ticking/clicking noise coming from the front left side of my vehicle. It is speed, not RPM, dependent, can be heard best at 40+ mph, and can't be heard at idle. I've taken it in to Jeep twice now and they can't find the source of the noise. I thought it might have been an exhaust leak. Jeep checked the following:

- Exhaust, exhaust manifold, and exhaust manifold bolts
- Tires (they rotated to see if noise would be eliminated or relocated)
- Wheel bearings
- U-joint
- CV Joint
- Brakes
- Suspension
- Steering components

We determined that it wasn't an exhaust leak, a bad wheel bearing, bad cv or u-joints, valve tick, or bad transmission. They claim that these parts were all tight and checked out just fine and that whatever is making the noise practically has to be falling off before they can find and fix it.

Anyone have any clues or ideas? A loose bolt or screw somewhere, maybe? Whatever it is, it's driving me up a wall.

I had the window trim on the front windshield come loose on the top left side. It made a ticking sound at highway speed.

Wish it was that easy, the sound in mine is much lower to the ground.
