So now that I've got my ARB on, I've got those two empty holes just begging for lights. Since I have the roof lights on my Renegade, and the factory fogs are wimpy (but look cool espeically in my ARB), I'm thinking a very good set of fog lights there would be good.

I'd like amber color. I'd like POWERFUL.

What's the best, regardless of price?

What's the best on a budget?

What's YOUR opinion?

Thanks!!!

PIAA makes the best and most expensive. Hellas are nice for the price. I put a set of Sylvania Silverstar bulbs in my factory lights and it made them ten times brighter. I also put them in my headlights.

Which bulbs did you put in the stock fogs?

After looking around for a while I finally settled on PIAA 520 amber ion crystal driving lights. They are long-range lights and I love them. A bit pricey but I think they are worth it. If you have lots of bucks to spend, you might consider the PIAA 550 plasma ion amber lights. They have a high and low beam in one unit. High beam is a driving beam, low is fog beam. Bigger by a couple of inches (8" in diameter). I have been debating about getting more lights on the roof, and if I do they will be PIAA too. Good sturdy lights and very bright.

I gotta be honest I like the ones that came with my Renegade....they're Hella....and they're bright...people flash their highbeams at me when I've got them on...I flash my highbeams back and theirs turn off real quick! I have adjusted them to point a little more down (just today) not only to save peoples eyes (and my own) but to get under the fog we get here a little better....I would suggest those to you...you can always switch out the bulbs for ambers and the lense will still cut the light really bright.

Hella 500 Amber Fogs. The best light $80 can buy. Easy to install, tough as heck, waterproof (i drove my KJ into a lake as seen in my Avatar, got much deeper) The other cool thing about the Hellas, they are very slim so mounting is much easier.

I think the part # for the foglights is 9147st. They came out about a month or so ago. Like I said I also have them in my headlights. With all for it makes a nice combo., especially in the rain.

I would go with either IPF or Hella's. Hella's are a great bang for the buck. You can find them on ebay for $50-$60 a set. I run Hella's and have not had any problems with them. IPF's are a lot more in price.

IPF is a great product, other wise ARB wouldn't sell it. Very bright, but if money is an issue-get the Hella's. Cheaper then KC's, cheaper then PIAA's, just as bright in my opinion. Too many good reviews on the Hella's to not give them a close looksee (they even have a Jeep Liberty on the box!!!!).

I have two sets of IPF driving lights, 100w each on the bumper, 55w each on the rack. The light "body" is made of plastic so it will not rust.

I've got to vote for the Hellas also. The only problem I've had (with 8 pairs and counting) was with a pair of amber fogs. The amber color is on the reflector, not the lens. It flaked/peeled off - but they were also five years old.

There is a guy who sells them on Ebay quite cheap, id "servicedepot" It's a Ford accessory kit for a rollbar mount kit, so the wiring is very long. It also came with a nice lighted switch that looks OE. I'm going to put the switch where the Renegade's lightbar switch would be.

thanks for the tips.

As for the switch, I have a Renegade, and I"m considering adding a second Renegade switch right next to the stock one. I love doing stuff like that even at $30+ per switch.

(going to ebay now)

Me too. I ordered the Rene switch. It requires a very unique plug (8-9 pin) to go into the back of it. Chrysler does not service a pigtail harness for it. I was also told that the "switching" is done by the BCM computer. It was getting way to involved. Good thing my dealer is cool... he just put the switch in stock rather than making me buy the special order part.

oh, wow! How much was it?

Can't we pick a prong or two and use that to power a relay? It's been a while, but all we need is for a light amp of power to go in to the switch, then out to a relay. Then the relay fires up the lights with a much thicker guage wire, no?

You are correct with the relay. All you will need is a couple of hundred millamps to trigger the relay and that will be the high current switch for the lights. Just use a contunity tester to see which 2 poles on the switch make contact.
