| Post subject: | Two questions concerning suspension issues |
Hi guys, I have a couple of questions that are suspension related. TJTim and I installed the Rusty's suspension lift on my KJ about 14 months ago (also, about 50k ago.. stupid commuting) anyway, after approximately 4 months, I replaced the Rusty's shocks because when I took them off to add washers (finally got sick of the rattling) I discovered one was leaking fluid so I got the Ranchos. Now after about 25k on the new shocks, my rear end is SUPER loose.. anytime I hit a small bump or something the rear end wants to break loose and bounce all over the place (not a "loss of tire traction" type break loose) Any suggestions/ideas? Secondly, my front end sounds like a pogo stick when I go over a dip, and it now beats the ever living snot out of me, is it time for new struts? (50k doesnt sound unreasonable, but I want to make sure im not missing anything) Thanks for the help guys. |

Sounds like it might be time for shocks/struts. |

I second the shocks/struts I would do a bounce test to see for sure. Use all of your body weight to push the bumper (either one) and bounce it 4 or 5 times. If the vehicle takes more then 2.5 bounces to stop bouncing-replace the shocks or struts. |

The struts I figured were shot (50k+) but the shocks were installed in early August (found reciept) so they have maybe 20k on the tops, if the RSX's fail that quickly, I may have to look elsewhere for replacements. Any suggestions on strut make/model? and again, thanks for the help. |

My rear RSX's have 35k on them and I think they are about worn out. 20k is pretty low mileage for them to be shot. Not familiar w/ other brands, so I have no suggestion for a replacement. |
