As most people know, MOPAR discontinued the HD towing upgrade kit. Well, I didn't buy one like an idiot and now I need one. Does anyone know what parts I can buy to piece one together. I can probably pick the tranny cooler up anywhere. Same with a brake controller. So the fan and (if needed) shroud would be the key pieces.

Thanks!

I installed the Mopar off-road kit which included the clutch fan and electric fan combo, part # 82206937 for $249.00 dollars. I think there might be a different part # for your KJ but I’m not sure. We took out the factory electric fan and replaced it with a new electric fan, mechanical clutch fan, and a new fan shroud. You can see the kit in the picture below. From my understanding, all 2007 KJ models came factory with a transmission cooler. I've also heard that the trany cooler is on all KJ's with the 42RLE and the KJ's with the 45RFE has the trany cooler in the radiator. According to the dealer information, the 2007 models only needed the heavy duty cooling fan to complete the off-road and towing package.

Yea. That's the kit that they discontinued. I didn't realize that it used a different electric fan also. I already have the factory tranny cooler, but it just isn't big enough. i've had a couple of offroading incidents where I get the trans temp light. I'll add another cooler or replace the one I have with a bigger one. I'll keep an eye on ebay for the kit... maybe I'll get lucky.

One more question for the guys in the know. There doesn't appear to be a 2003 kit number. Did they make one? Will the 2004+ kit fit?

When you over heated:
1. What driving conditions?
2. What gear were you in?

when it has gotten hot it has been 4-low, aggressive rocky terrain, hot and dusty weather. low speed, lots of hill climbs. It is made worse by the muddy water. The mud here is clay and the water carries the clay and it clogs up everything (pulleys, etc)
