Tonight on my way home from work my indicator lights for the ESP-BAS, LTS, and ABS dash lights came on and will not go off. This hapened on the highway and it kicked my cruise controll off and it doesn't work. I asume this is because of the esp kicked it off. Once I was on snow and ice I could tell that the anti locks and esp are not working. Where should I start looking for the problem at and has anyone had a simular problem.

make sure the ABS pump fuse is not blown.. that would make all those lights come on and the ESP/ABS not work. from there check into the ABS system.

*my guess*

Yep that fuse is in that long black box just in front of the battery.
If that fuse checks out OK it may be an actual wheel sensor OR, like what happened to me, the rear wiring to the rear sensors went bad and replacement was the fix. This is the same loom that connects under the rear driver's side seat and has wiring associated with the fuel tank.

This link even has the wiring part#:

Just replaced a right rear wheel sensor and still have ABSlights and associated error code for RRW sensor.

I'm thinking I should just rewire the sensor from the wheel all the way up to the connector that is under the driver's side rear seat. Has this actually done the trick for anyone in the past? Also, is the break in the wire obvious? If this doesn't fix it, where do I go next?

Good News!!!! A BIG THANK YOU FOR THIS AWESOME FORUM FOR HELPING ME FIX THE CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTS I HAD ON MY DASH FOR THE PAST YEAR (ESP, CRUI

I fixed my CRD Libby! I had a right rear wheel speed sensor code but the code remained after replacing the sensor (the sensor is cheap <10 bucks and 10 minutes of labor to do...one 10mm bolt and one electrical plug). Based on information I gleaned from various posts here, I figured there was a wiring problem from the wiring harness under the right rear passenger seat to the right wheel speed sensor.

I removed the rear seats and uncovered the carpeting. I then tested each of two the wires form the right rear wheel speed sensor to the wiring harness plug. The green/blue wire had good continuity but its sibling, the solid green wire had no continuity. I tried to find the break in the wire but decided it would be quicker to run a new wire parallel to the existing harness wiring to the speed sensor plug. I spliced the new wire with solder and several layers of heat shrink tubing. I ran the new wire in solid plastic conduit to protect it and ziptied it to the existing harness. A couple of hours later I was back on the road and my christmas tree lights on my dash blinked off when I hit about 20mph.

We just got several inches of snow today and I was tearing up the roads in 2 wheel drive and was amazed by how well the traction control and ESP did. I didn't even need to go into 4x4 to drive on the roads! I missed having anti-lock brakes and they sure did get a good workout at each intersection. Everything worked as it should!

In the past two weeks I have: replaced 4 glow plug plugs (you have to remove the airflow control valve and intake which are very time consuming), new glow plug harness, new airflow control valve, new ECU with a very nice GDE tune to increase horsepower, torque, and reliability, new brakes/rotors on all wheels, oil change, tranny fluid/filters, front/center/rear differential fluids replaced.

I'm almost done with working on Libby, she still needs a new fan belt as preventative maintenance, a new front windshield (its cracked), and eventually replace interior cloth seats with leather ones.

Thanks again to all of the forum members whose help, advice, and postings allowed me to fall in love again with my Jeep! I don't think I'll be borrowing my wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD anymore.
