| Post subject: | KK Clevis fork in a KJ??? |
Lads, has anyone put these "longer" KK clevis forks in a KJ??? I'm just curious if they are infact longer and by how much. Reason is I'm about to transfer the lift I have in my V6 over to My CRD, and the big factor I hear is a problem is the contact between the strut and the CV boot on that offsett side with the CRD front diff offsett. I was thinking IF the KK fork is longer that would help clearance there, and restore some of the lift height I'll loose because of the heavey CRD engine. Then when I get a bit more cash, I'll replace the heavey duty coils I currently have with those extra heavy duty CRD coils. But I'd still like to keep the KK forks to ensure clearance of the CV boot.. Anybody done this with the CRD??? Can any with access to both a KJ and a KK measure the difference between to two??? Thanks again cmohr (cmohr is Australian for ...........) |

Like Digger stated the KK clevis is longer and will work I think. I am getting ready to order some for "someones" CRD that is lifted but wanting that little extra amount of clearance, lift wise and also around the CV. That's one of the problems with the CRD is how tight it is on the left side ( almost put Drivers side I should have a set in my hands by the end of the week hopefully and will get some exact comparisons for you then. Hope that helps some Tom |

i have a clevis sitting here next to me off of my kk... from the bottom of the clevis thats attached to strut to the bolt hole at the bottom is about 7 3/8" with overall length about 9 and 5/8". |

so center of the lower bolt hole to the bottom part of the section the shock sits in is 7 3/8s correct ? I had the measurements here wrote down but can't find them tonight Thanks |

The KK clevis is 10mm longer than the KJ version and gives 20mm of lift, it increases the clearance on the short shaft by 10mm, the CV angle is stretched to the limit with the additional 10mm droop. The coil also hits the inner body. Selwyn |

Selwyn wrote: the CV angle is stretched to the limit with the additional 10mm droop. The coil also hits the inner body. Selwyn Then I better not tell you mine has 15mm (in total) extra and doesn't do that... DirtyKK wrote: i have a clevis sitting here next to me off of my kk... from the bottom of the clevis thats attached to strut to the bolt hole at the bottom is about 7 3/8" In that case the KK clevis is just as long as my KJ's:....18,5Cm / 7.28" Diggerfreek wrote: the KK clevis it self is an inch longer... I have a set of KJ gasser clevises in the garage, I'll measure those tonight. tommudd wrote: That's one of the problems with the CRD is how tight it is on the left side Two words....cradle drop |

Sorry I failed to mention that I have a 25mm spacer between the body and the upper mounting. I want one long clevis with no spacers. Selwyn |

huh? The 05+ (got mine from INC's Renegade) clevises are a full 3/8 shorter then mine! Cmohr, how long are yours? 17,5cm or 18,5cm? Or did we just solve the pre-lowered riddle? Still hoping on this, I asked a friendly fellow Jeeper to go get me some... Diggerfreek wrote: the KK clevis it self is an inch longer... I measured this

I don't remember who I was discussing this with the other day, but we had my KJ next to an '02 or '03, both had almost identical front lift amount, fender flare to center of rim, and the older one looked to have much less steep CV angles. Did the older models have different cradle mounting / geometry? I wonder if that was changed when they lowered them too. |

IIRC (TJKJ would know this for sure) there has been a change on the cradle in '04... |

Yes they are a little longer, not like an inch but some and we all know that a little more is better than none at all. |

Crikey!!! I just woke up... Now, Tony, I'll have to measure mine to be sure, Those differences in KJ forks could infact be the Pre-Lowered.. I have noticed looking at the drive shaft angles that on my standard CRD they actually slope upwards, so onece the lift goes in hopefully I wont have too much down angle. Tom I'll be waiting to hear GOOD NEWS about "Somebody" doing this... For me its not somuch about lift, its about that clearance. But I wont complain about height. Currently in my V6 with a ARB bar on the front, I think I had 550mm from under the guard to hub centre (Dont know what that is in "Darkside" Imperial measurements) but its always been more than enough for me, and has allowed me to run my 31/10.5/15s on there with no contact on anything, so this is what I want to have on the CRD when all my mods are switched over. Let the Intrigue begin.. |

Yep, that's what we all had before the OME goodies came on. Then it sits 'neutral' or let's say straight. If you do some more lift they slope downward..a little. cmohr wrote: Tom I'll be waiting to hear GOOD NEWS about "Somebody" doing this.. Well, the gasser boys did this, Tom did this, now I'm gonna do it, but you'll have to wait a little for it to happen.. cmohr wrote: For me its not somuch about lift, its about that clearance. I'm now at 21,5" / 54.5 Cm with 245/75/16 (30,5") and no rub everything peachy... |
