I get the odd bind in 4lo with a clunk. I knew both my cv shafts where finished and changed them but I have a little howl on the drivers side and thinking it would be a wheel bearing starting to go. Lifted jeep and check for play in the wheel bearing and no play but in a corner situation 3 times on a drive I get a noise when in 4 lo. Would a wheel bearing cause a bind. It sounds like drivers side. PS checked the boot on my front drive shaft as well, all is good. 168 000 km on the libby. |

What type of surface are you driving on in 4low? Normal if on any hard packed surface,dry/wet pavement. |

packed soil and a little rock with it. It is like a pop sounds like it is skipping a spline on the cv. It is coming from the passenger side. None of the corners have been close to full lock either. I just want to get a good idea before I change the wheel bearing and it still be there. Both cv shafts are reman from napa. |

yea the boot going to the transfer case and the boot to the front diff. I was out yesterday and everything was great in 4lo and when to the next spot and put the jeep in 4lo and it was in low but the front diff didn't go into 4wd when in low range. Put it in 4lo again and the diff went in this time. I might be getting the popping noise from the diff not going in when in 4wd. Thinking maybe the linkage on the transfer case needs to be adjusted? Is it a cable from the lever to the case? Never done this before. |

4Lo tends to make a popping sound sometimes. It could be that. Terry |
