OK I'm still real new to the Liberty. I have a 02 sport. What is pre lowerd and is it a good thing or not? how do I find out if I have one? Any help wuld be cool. |

Towards the later part of the 02 production year Jeep lowered the stock ride height with some shorter springs. 0.75 - 1.0 inches all around. They did this in reaction to some bad publicity after motortrend (?) rolled one in a moderately high speed slalom course. I don't remember the production cutover date, but I'm sure it's on here if you search for it. |

Also when they lowered they Liberty, DCX revised the powersteering efforts to make it easier to steer at lower speeds. |

there's a sticker on your drivers door it has all kinds of info on it & also your vin# there will be a spot that says "Date Of Mfgr" & under it it will give the build date if it's before april 2002 or 4-02 than you have a pre lowerd KJ,hope this helps ![]() |

well I took a look and the date said 10/01 so it must be pre-lowerd. I guess this is a good thing? Thanks again. |

It gets you a little bit more height compared to newer, stock KJs. Not really a big deal since you plan on doing a lift anyway. |

the big deal is you get a tough 45rfe tranny which they put behind the hemi-if it can handle the hemi...It is the last thing you will need to upgrade on the driveline (we all know what should be first and it starts with a D and ends with a 30a) |
