Post subject:  noise after lift question?

I installed a daystar lift about 1k ago and I have a noise. it is hard to explain it is not a popping or a clanking but it almost sounds like my top strut bolts are loose and the assembly is falling down then hitting the engine bay. like i said i dont know but hoping someone here could help

thanks

J

check the torque on the top strut bolts, also check and see that the coils are properly seated on the iso's and that the UCA isn't contacting the coils

could also be the top nut on the shock is not tight. Did you install them or someone else?

Double check your sway bar links. Mine were loose and it sounded like the front end was coming off.

Stand on the side of your Jeep and push-n-pull really hard at the front wheel well, that's how I figured out where my noise was coming from (after I pulled the whole strut assembly out and put it back!)

Mine does it too.

It is probably the spindle arm on the UBJ hitting the spacer.

My Franky does that when I go over speed bumps at a good clip.

I had this problem with my Frankie turned out it was the sway bar links, I agree with 501. The factory torque setting I think is not tight enough. For me it was a 5 minute fix once I found out what it was just tightened the two bolts on the sway bar links and noise was gone!!

noise only happened on speed bumps, some pot holes, maybe turning

Hey, Yodejt

Did you ever get the ESP problem with your rear end sorted out?

yeah, I just am ignoring the lights untill I can get some vaccume plugs to cover them. Its the locker that set everything off, but it was kinda nice since I wanted to loosed the ESP, traction control and ABS. I posted on a thread awhile ago how the ESP system had gotten me in more trouble than it helped me. I don't have full time 4 wheel so when there was snow melt and the road to my last apartment would ice up in spots I did want to use 4 wheel cause the main roads were bone dry. the exit onto the main road is on a slope and was just enought to cause some wheel spin, and enough to cause the ESP to turn on everytime pulling out onto a road that is busy (entrance had no stop light). So everytime I would leave ESP would kick on shut down the throttle and a would crawl through the oncoming traffic, Scary!!! Scott and I talked about it and he told me just to cover the lights, nothing other than not having those systems is going to happen so for now the only incovience is having to stare at the dash lights!

didnt mean to highjack thread

and maybe someone should stickie about putting rear lockers in 06 or later I don't know if that is a problem for the new KK but for the 06-07 KJ it maybe. I could not find much on this topic in my searches.

Wierd!

Lots of people have put aussies and detroits in '06 and later models with no issues. doesn't make much sense.

what kind is your's again?

'06 Renny. I don't know. I wouldn't think the locker would cause it either but who knows. Either way i got a locker and ESP is history, I am loving both!! :D

Post subject:  Re: noise after lift question?

hmmm...

I don't 'think' anyone with an '06+ has tried that one yet...

I'm probably going to go with an Aussie...

unless I can get together enough for my favorite locker of all time...

The Detroit Locker

Awsome qwert380! I would also check out a posting done by 1996xj. He is thinking there maybe a problem with our lifted KJs and the rear control arm bushing ( I think thats what he said). Going to check on mine periodically to see if there is any problem.

And Voodoo, could not pass up the great deal Matt gave me on his so thats how I ended up with a power trax. Plus, I really have not done much wheeling so an ARB or Detroit might have been a waist for me.

Post subject:  Re: noise after lift question?

I would get a ARB, wayy to expensive...

Aussies are only about $299

Detroit is back up around $700

I have a bit of a leadfoot, and I hate the OTF
