When I drive close to a wall so I can hear noises from the side or under the rig, I hear what sounds like a hard piece of plastic being dragged on pavement. Originally I thought it might be the speedo sensor plastic tubbing cover rubbing the inside of the rim. It isn't Anyone have this same problem? |

Troy it's prob. the CV boot's rubbing together when moving, mine makes just a little sound especially when turning, You KJ is sitting on the edge of too "TALL" for the half shaft's !!

Thats why I said Intermediate shaft/ CV as tall as he is it has to ba about maxed out, plus if there was any corrosion there its now trying to wear things a lot more/faster. Mine had a swishing type or rubbing sound when mine was starting to go. Thats the first place I would look |

nah i know what the selenoid sounds like, this is actually a metallic tic, one of the balls in my cvs are probably buggered but until it turns into a claymore i'm not changin them but to the OP if it sounds like rubber or plastic poppin, could be the cv boots rubbing, could be the hubs, or even the brake shoes scrubbing a bit jack it up put the tranny and transfer case in Neutral and spin one of the wheels and see if you can isolate the issue |

Just keep driving it, you'll eventually find out what it is... when it breaks |

I had some of the under body Noise insulation come out after wheeling and it was dragging on the front driveshaft made a similar sound. When my CV's get wet they make a plastic on rubber sound from the boot rubbing together. |
