While I haven't done a Jeep engine... it actually looks like it would be a little easier than what I have experience with (Honda 1.6L CRX Motors)

My adivce is as follows:

1) Try to keep the engine wiring harness on the engine. Disconnect what you can from the chassis and keep it attached to the engine.
This will make life easier when you have to swap over the electronics to keep them matched to your chassis (in case something changed between 02 and whatever your new engine is....

2) drain the fluids. Yeah. They go everywhere once you realize you forgot to disconnect the lower radiator hose when the engine is already half out....

3) if you have access to a crane use it. Cherry pickers are nice for low cars, but a crane would be nice for a liberty.

4) take the hood off. It leaves more room to pull the engine vertical.

I hope some of the things I learned when I used to do engine swaps would help you...

Can you document this for us? You might be a first on LOST.

(if you're near Cleveland hit me up if you need a couple hours of help)
Mark

Actually a bit more thought into it... do you plan to drop th engine and tranny from under the vehicle, or pull the engine out the top? The rear tranny bracket is easy to pull I wonder if the front engine bracket is?
