I have the Rusty's coil lift. My front springs have sagged a lot since I put on the ARB and winch. I'm getting a lot of rubbing now. As far as I know, the Rusty's spring were medium-duty. I want to get some heavy duty springs, but what size do I need? |

Rustys springs are not medium duty. They are the same as as stock OEM springs or Light Duty OME springs about 310 LB. No wonder your ARB made it sag! You need OME 927s , or OME 790s if keeping the winch on. 790s are rated at 500 LB Rustys even sag with no aftermarket bumpsers etc. |

Super.... thanks for the info. So is this what I need? http://jeepinbyal.com/prod-OME_Spring_f ... t-618.aspx It says 1.5" lift.. the Rusty's was a 2.5" lift. Does that mean anything? Sorry if it seams like I'm a Beavis. |

That 1.5 inch and 2.5 inch is all BS mostly advertising from both companies it was to protect themselves in the case of OME BS OME gives more lift than Rustys even if in print it doesn't seem so. If staying with the ARB and winch then 790s, and a clevis will get you as much and I would think more than Crustys would ever get you. |

Another question before I plunk down the cash for the OME 790 springs. Do I need anything else, or can I just use the existing Rusty's hardware that's already there? I'm just going to take it to a shop and tell them to replace the front springs. |

The struts that came with the Rusty's coil lift. I think I've put maybe 20k on them. |

At least Rustys did use OME shocks, so they maybeOK to reuse |

forgive the highjack, but I'm fixing to get a winch (http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/ ... _200381901) and backbone plate which will add +/- 125 lbs. to the front. I kept all my stock parts from my Daystar lift and don't have a problem with getting some OME 790's, but wonder if I can get away with stock CRD coils with my Daystar spacer lift. Also, can I get an aftermarket shock that might work, like the '99 Durango's I have on the rear, that might be cheaper than a strut? Thank you all very much for all your help...I need it. |

Only shock available for the front is what we all use, just the normal ones. On a CRD OME works best but on my setup I'm using Rancho RSX's With the Daystar and OEM CRD spring I think it would be too much, cramming 10 LBs of potatoes in that 5 LB sack. With what you will have weight wise will not be that much more than a ARB bumper by itself. So you could get by with the 927s really Or go with the 790s and add top plate etc depending on how high you want to go! |

790's mate. I have the same combo bar and winch and after 30,000km's they are holding up great. |

So go with the OME 927's or 790's, get rid of the Daystar spacer strut plate and re-install the stock, use Rancho RSX shocks (which ones?) and still maintain the 2.5" lift? I reallize this has been discussed elsewhere and I really appreciate all the help (with no comments) since this is my first time. AUS PILOT, you say you have the same "Backbone" winch plate and Northern Industrial winch, or just the plate with a winch on it? How's the winch working out for you? I must say this crowd has been most patient with those of us that have no clue what we're doing. I can't say how invaluable ya'll have been and how your help has kept me out of more trouble and saved me more money. Keep up the good work EDIT! Just read your signature Aus Pilot...sorry for the stupid questions. Again, I'm still learning. John |

Quote: I was curious about lifts, and am keeping my options open which includes the Daystar. What I'm curious about is, do you have to use the stock suspension in order to use this, or can you upgrade to the aftermarket and still use this? I'm not trying to get gratuitous amounts of lift, it's just that I know my stock suspension is showing its signs of wear and I wanted to replace it anyway. So it basically comes to: Are you limited to stock suspension replacements when considering a Daystar kit, or can you also moderately upgrade with aftermarket and still use it? So yea this is a post i did elsewhere and ![]() I apologize in advance to the OP. And this is from the Daystar tech thread so if anyone cares to answer in there then by all means. Thanks John, even though I so sold you out. |

John Yes some have reused parts of the Daystar but it most times makes it too high, I would do stock parts with new OME springs and new shocks all around and be done with it. |

^^ I think it's in my best interest to just do a new thread as opposed to hijack this thread anymore. Ethiopian pirates envy us |
