Well, I did my AMSOIL oil change today and goofed up a little bit. When I went to reinstall the drain plug I decided to use a torque wrench to put the proper 25ft/lbs of torque. I didn't know how the wrench I was using worked though and seriously overtorqued the plug. I realized what I did, but the damage was already done. What happened is that in my wrenching, I slightly deformed the oil pan at the drain plug area. The torque applied actually deformed the pan at the plug port, but did not crack the pan. (Thank God) I'll post a couple pictures later, and hopefully there are no oil stains on the concrete when I wake up. Has anyone accidentally done this before as well?? I imagine worst things have happened to oil pans, so I hope this won't be a major concern. |

Jiffy Lube did it on mine. The dealer re-tapped the hole and put a bigger plug in. |
