Has anyone tried the KYB GR2's in the front of a KJ? If so how did work? I have to order new shocks for the weekend and can get a good deal on them.

I don't recall anyone ever using them before.

As I am doing my strut/shock search I came across those. Their website describes them as the recommended OE replacement. But yea, never seen anyone use them and rave about it yet.

http://www.kyb.com/products/index.php The website seemed useful, as well as the catalog, but I searched for my libby and it just brought up the OE replacements. Not sure if they offer adjustable ones for us.

after about 20 mins of tirerack review reading they seem to be about as recommended as bilsteins and looks like they have a 150k warranty?

i've never had kyb's on any of my vehicles, but i replaced the suspension on a few bmw's with if my memory serves me correctly was eibach and kyb's and they seemed quite happy with it if not giggly

Thats all we have for the front is OE style replacements, no adjustable ones , ( well Rancho does but normally)
Looks like 331017 for the front
and KG54322 for the rear when lifted

I'm just bumping this post to see if anyone has used these yet. I'm in the process of buying parts for my lift and these are my first choice so far, seeing as they're around half the price of OME struts. My only experience with KYB so far are the AGX adjustable struts I have on my RX7, which are very nice. These are a different series and non-adjustable so who knows...

I haven't had experience with them on my Liberty but I used them on my old Firebird and they were good quality. When the time comes for me to swap out my current shocks then I'll probably use the GR2s in the Jeep as well.

I actually just installed them this week-end (GR-2/Excel-G in front, Gas-A-just in rear), so I may provide some feedback on the long run. I installed these on my previous rig (Chevy Tracker), and the ride improved quite good, hence the reason for trusting them on the Jeep...

UPDATE 07/11
So far, so good... apart from squeaking in front (rustproof lube took care of it), I'll say it's a real improvement over the OEM ones. Actually, I think replacing the originals with anything but is already a good move

I used to have these on my rx7 as well. They were awesome. Can't comment on a jeep, but if the company still makes quality shocks, I would put them on my jeep in a heartbeat.

I didnt try them on the kj yet,but on two of my previous cars i swapped oem for gr2s and they where really good, better than the oems.My wifes father owns a 2005 mazda tribute 4x4 bought brand new in 2005,and i installed 4 gr2,excell g front, gaz a just rear, this past summer, and its a totally different little suv, more stable, more car like feel, its better than it was even brand new, they absorb really nice, not hard, but the truck dosent move, the suspension now does its work, really satisfied,so i think i ll swap mines to,and for the price,i think you cant go wrong.

I bought my set from Rockauto:

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php

In this light, the shockwarehouse ones are a sweeter deal, with the free shipping...
