last month i got stuk in a mud pit , mud everywhere ![]() ![]() ![]() anyone had the same problem ? can you help me ? |

If you hear the starter motor whirring, but not engaging, it could be a bad solenoid. I doubt enough leftover mud could work its way there to disable it. Ed |

I had a similar problem with sand. It turned out that the clutch in the starter to engage the gear went bad. According to the shop that rebuilt mine, dealer wanted $300 for the starter, the clutch can wear quickly on this starter. He rebuilt mine with parts from a Neon or something like that. I have not had a problem since, it been 2 1/2 years now. The starter went with 30,000 miles on the truck. The rebuild only cost me $90, I'm sure the price has gone down for the starter. |
