We saw a ton of the H3s while we were up at Yellowstone earlier this month. I looked them over and honestly they don't look too bad (too expensive for me though). Those specs for the KJ ground clearance are using "running clearance" and don't really reflect that the front diff hangs down to about 6.5" in stock form. I'm not sure why Jeep needs to lie about this instead of actually giving us some clearance! :?

I checked out an H3 really well in the IHOP parking lot today. Here's one spec you didn't list ...

I looks to me like 35" tires might just fit with stock suspension. Can't say the same for a Liberty :(

I check out the h3 at the dealership, without the offroad package they look funky. With the offroad package they look pretty good.

On a side note, I saw a new h3 commerical on the TV, it show it wheeling in moab, 1 of my favorites was it going over the golden spike. Pretty sweet.

Question is, if you take it there really and bust something will they be as nice as when you bought it?? Probably not.

33" Tires Stock, Lockers, 4:1 gearing... it's got potential, better than the h2 and affordable, 33k one fully loaded w/ off road package.

sure we can..all you have to do is chop of the fender flares and fenders and some of the bumper. then you can easily fit a 35" and with a 2.5-3" lift you can fit a 37". :-)r

I like how the H3's look, only complaint is their price and lack of a V-8/diesel option. I don't like the fact that the libby doesn't have a V-8 option either, but I got my renny for 15K, so the price was right :P

Yeah there is NO way the Libby has the same ground clearance as the H3. The Liberty has about the same ground clearance as a Mustang GT. It's really sad. That, in my opinion, is the #1 thing holding the KJ back...

That and the inability to have a feasable lift of more than 3inches.

I really am not liking the fact that I just am not sure what lift is best because I really think the jeep heads could have put together a better IFS system than what we currently have. I do appreciate all the help this forum has given me.

I will say that the KJ bunch seems to be much more RESPECTFUL than the wrangler and xj bunch that i am usually in contact with on forums. Anyone have any insight into that? Does IFS breed intelligence?

I looked at one today and noticed that the rear shock mounts are really low and in the way. The shock mount on the KJ is low also...but its very close to the wheel which keeps it from getting hit by rocks that your tire is on. The H3 looked like it would be in the way more often becuase it was about 1/2 way between the wheel and the diff. So, you would have to keep track of where the diff was...where the shock was...and where the tire was. Thats allot since I can barely keep track of my diff !!

The interior is pretty squared off....the seats look more comfortable I will say that.

The salesperson said the price ranges from 28K to 38K....I can't see paying that kind of coin for it.

4:1 gears and the ABILITY, not just space, to handle 35 or 37" tires... that goes a LONG way if you ask me. Just read the C&D review of the H3, good reviews!!

If by 9.4" you mean 6.5", then sure!

Hate to say it, but I loved going wheeling with these guys. All bone stock, red one had the Slamma Jamma Offroad package, but they all did equally well getting up those rocks and through some NASTY stuff my Buddy Mike and I took em through. I took the Company TJ and my buddy Mike's XJ runs 35" tires. They kept up until we decided we'd had about enough, but I couldn't have gotten the KJ I own any further than they got stock. And we all have seen the list of my KJ mods.

We both REALLY wanted to drive em as the guys who came with us where pretty much newbies. I was impressed, made me rethink my FJ Cruiser choice for a new rig this summer.... yes, they're spendy...but comfy on the inside and surprisingly capable.

The KJ was the root of all jokes in the Jeep world when it first came out. There were lots of crule comments to KJ owners and since LOST has just been a very nice and respectable club. Im glad it is the way it is. I will continue to be a active member of LOST for as long as I own anything that has the letters "J E E P"!

Ive got an ome lift and ive got 8.5 at the front skid with stock tires.

The libby is not made for off roading, it can go off roading with some mods, but its not made to do what the H3 is. Im not saying it cant do what the h3 can, but without a lift and good tires, the libby is not near as good as an h3. I would rather have my libby that has the lift over any hummer though. I think they do 0-60 in like 12 sec. Towing 2500k behind the libby would be like driving an h3 with no load.

I like the look of the H3, but I don't have any confidence in a 5 cyl GM motor. Also knowing it is based on the leaf spring Colorado PU platform can't understand the price.

Post subject:  Nice toys

I would just like to say that I think this crowd is great group. I own Jeeps and I love them, however I think that the H3 is a great vehicle. I've talked to other Jeep people and they look at me like I have horns growing out of my head when commenting on the H3. I mean come on how can you not like a 4:1 transfer case. As far as the KJ goes I would say that it can do a heck of a lot before it gets into trouble. Of course that comment works with any Jeep vehicle that I have driven.

PS.. Wave dammit... It's not just a Wrangler thing.
