Will this actually reduce some of the front drive line stress on my KJ? lots of ppl have been talking about doing a cradle drop but I've never seen pictures of one. I heard JBA uses it with his 6" system. Seems like a ton of work if it doesn't make much difference.

There has been two or three posted on here that done it in the past. Funny thing is they post they did it and then you never hear from them again. They vaporize!!
It would be like anything else. You know change one thing, puts more wear on something else.
Whats the main reason for doing it?
Someone on KJC just did a 1/8 inch cradle.

I'm going to add some more to my lift along with a set of JBA 4.5 A-Arms. Probably am going to get really near the 24" mark, so I was trying to think up ways to reduce some of the stress on the CV's. Also I'm having my CV's Shaved as soon as my buddy can do it, I'll take pictures of that

What exactly are the negative effects of doing a cradle drop?

Will change the driveline angle on the driveshafts, esp. the front
also will possibly make it harder to align depending on where yours is now
A cradle drop will affect the positive camber, and if you start out with negative camber before a cradle drop it will make it a lot worse depending on how much you drop.
There's a reason some have tried it and then either removed or were never heard from again
1/4 inch maybe OK but is it worth it ?
I have plenty of clearance with 32s, ( although there is a rumor in Ohio that someone  did a cradle drop on mine) if I want more then I know where there's a 77 3/4 ton Ford pickup sitting

That's a whole-lotta JBA to be rollin' down the freeway on...

Its probably obvious, but youll also lose ground clearance under your cradle since your lowering it to "correct your CV angles". Alot of big lifted IFS vehicles use cradle drops. I see lots of chevys and toyotas with them. Ive never been a big fan, but its kinda a must once you get so big. It still doesnt correct the huge space between the knuckle/spindle and the upper ball joint/UCA caused by the bigger lift. Im a skeptic of the spacer between the spindle and the UBJ, seems weak. Either way, if you choose to do it, get some good pics before and after, I like to see peolple try new things, its what gets modifications started.

I wasn't planning on doing it but I did want posted the reasons for not doing it. We have enough of a problem with ground clearance as it is.
