I've had my lift installed for over a year now and my Grabber AT2's are just about toast(they're 3 years old). My lift has settled in and you can see how it's dropped in the front. I'm thinking about going from the 235/75 A/T tire to a 245/75 M/T tire. Since I'm going to have to get an alignment done anyway, I'm thinking about throwing in a set of top plates before hand. Which thickness top plate should I go with, and will I need to upgrade to JBA's UCA? Will the stock UCA still be within spec? There's nothing wrong with them.

You should be fine with like a 1/4' in the front and 2 top rear iso per side and 1 bottom rear iso. Atleast that is what i have planned along with the ome lift of course. And boiler said that should be more then enough for my intended tire upgrade.

Thanks for the advise.

My jeep has a noticable rake to it. In fact, I think the front probably sits about an 1" lower than the rear. I think if I go with just the top plates in the front to level things out a bit, it'll be perfect. If the front sits higher than the rear after getting the top plates installed, then I can always order some extra rear isolaters.

 sometimes I wonder why ..........
You can use a 3/8 inch spacer unless you have the Frankenlift then you can only use the 1/4 inch
If you need to throw 2 extra on top in the rear

You can only use the 1/4" with a Franky on account of the fact that they use Daystar top plates which are thicker than the stock upper strut plates with the stock strut bolts/studs so if you go to a 3/8" plate and Daystar strut plates the stock bolts don't pass through the nuts when you tighten it together and would more than likely fail pretty quick. Otherwise from what I've seen change to longer studs and go to town with the Top plate.

The comment of Sometimes I wonder why was directed at wondering why these things are discussed daily on different posts

Now with a Franky and using a 3/8 plate you are pushing the boundaries of what will and will not work, trust me. Having mine torn apart 30 plus times I tried it

Tom,
It's often much easier to ask a question and get a response within a few seconds, rather than wasting countless hours wading through nonsense posts returned by a crappy search engine. Out of all the time I've spent on this forum, it appears to me that the topic has been discussed many, many times. However, each post initiated is usually tailored to each individual's suspension, his or her modifications, and needs.

The major concern with my Jeep is that my factory upper arms wouldn't accommodate the extra lift given that I have no extra weight up front. The ball joints already appear to be at a pretty steep angle at full droop now.

I also know you've had your KJ apart hundreds of times and have tried countless combinations. Therefore, why not ask someone, such as yourself, with the expertise what his/her opinion is.

I apologize if I’ve wasted your time by asking a question that appears redundant.
Shaffer

Shaffer, don't take it personal. We awnsered this question like a gazillion times and will continue to do so, that's what a forum is all about. It can get a little on your nerves at times though...sorry. ;)

If your UCA's do not bang against the springs you're still good to go. Stock UCA's and a lift will never be 'in specs' angle-wise. If you mean alignment-wise, some KJ's had problems, but most didn't.

Nah. I didn't really take it personal. :D

I have a lot of respect for Tom, Troy, and a bunch of the others for their experience and advice. I just wanted Tom to know where I was coming from ;)

As you can see by my join date, I've been a member for quite a while. I just don't post that often because I spend more time over at JeepKJCountry.com. I just find the forum over there more asthetically pleasing. Also, most people who are members here, are members over there too. In fact, most people will post the same question on both forums at the same time.

Thanks for all the help guys. I appreciate it!

Nah. I haven't done anything yet. I planning on adding the top plates just before I replace the tires I currently have on. That way I can get it aligned and have the tires mounted and balances all in one shot.

I'm thinking about going with a set of 245/75/R16's when the time comes. I might as well upgrade the tires a bit while I'm at it. I won't be doing any of this until next spring. My current tires will get me through the winter.
