I have a 2003 Liberty Renegade maunual tranny 4x4. This morning I noticed a new "squeak" on the rear drivers side only when I take my foot off of the gas. It doesn't seem to make that noise when I brake either...ONLY WHEN TAKING FOOT OFF OF THE GAS....with clutch depressed or even not depressed. This "squeak" occurs in rythm with the rotation of the wheel. OTHER NOISE - Similar to the previous, only it s banging or thumping noise that also goes in rythm when I take my foot off the gas. This one, however, does make the thump when depressing the brake. I have the sterring wheel wobble when depressing the brake which began a week ago or so (which that is a rotor I do believe). I am taking it in to the dealership when I get back to town this afternoon for an alignment and they are goign to check on my issues.....any ideas from all of your knowledge on what might be my causes? Thank You Mike (haulin5 is my wife) |

I had a squeak from the thrust bearing in the manual trans once that would only make noise when letting off the gas pedal, however you say the squeak happens regardless of the clutch being engaged or not, and this would tend to point me towards the engine bay to check the belt condition, belt tension, pully's etc but your sound is coming from the pass rear. Maybe check the exhaust & cat converter, that is the only thing I can think of at the back of the Lib that is gas pedal dependant when the clutch isn't engaged. Can you make it squeak when you aren't moving, just reving while parked with the clutch disengage/out of gear????? Hopefully someone else will be along that can provide more insight than I have. |

The sound is coming from the Driver's rear if that makes any difference... Thank you for the help, I guess I will find out this afternoon when I take her in. |

Well, hows this one for fun. Someone had loosened 4 of the 5 lug nuts on the drivers rear wheel. I was lucky it didn't fall off while on the interstate. It actually took the 2 mechanics 45 minutes to find it. 3 of the nuts were on the final thread....so anywho, lots of noise out of that. |
