I've been chasing this gremlin for about a year and a half now and posted about it a few times. My ABS, ESP/BAS, and traction control lights lit long with cruise control stopped working when I was in some very deep snow.

Over that time, I have replaced the rear wheel speed sensors, the front hubs and the front abs sensors (came pre-installed in the new hubs). I've done enough research to write a book on the subject as well.

I finally broke down and bought an OBD2 scanner that can read ABS codes. It pulled out C1020 and U1417.

C1020–LEFT REAR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT
U1417-IMPLAUSIBLE LEFT WHEEL DISTANCE SIGNAL RECEIVED

I originally had a hunch that it was the left rear wheel. I've had it apart, cleaned the tone wheel, and made sure everything else was clean. The wiring looks great and the connector is tight.

Does anyone have any ideas of what could be left to look at or fix? I will literally paypal $25 to anyone who has an answer that clears up the problem.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

I'm just going to long shot bump this one... I just did a 5700 mile road trip and really miss cruise control!

Did you trace the wiring between the wheel sensor and the ECM? Maybe it rubbed through somewhere in between?

I am currentley facing the same issue. I have the U1417 error read at O'reileys which. I ordered a new front sensor which is just a guesse. I have did the key on position off on again 3 times and it displays 5 or 6 dashes then states done. So no codes on the self diagnosing program. But I have a tie rod that needs replaced and I am wondering if the loss sway bar has caused steering to come off center and prompt the traction control ABS BAS lights?? good luck, and if I get it working I will let you know how it was corrected.

I just fixed one of these! Looks like it could be a common problem for this vehicle if you have a manual trans.broken wire behind parking brake near top of bracker, wire breaks when clutch linkage catches on it or rubs through. Hope that helps.
