If you're trying to get it lose from the steering spindle, hit the spindle where the ball joint shaft goes through it. Leave the nut threaded on the bottom a few threads so it doesn't pop out, hitting it there usually pops it lose, may take quite a few hits. ( helps to have some pressure onthere to get it to pop) If you are replacing the upper arms and ball joints, you can try to hit the shaft from the bottom and get it to pop up and out. If you are removing arms from frame, then remove bolts and use some type of pry bar to get them out of the pockets. |

With the front on jack stands and the wheels off,UCA ball joint nut loose(only on by a couple of threads),place jack under LCA and put just a slight amount of tension on the LCA(jack up about 1/2") and then.................... ![]() With a BFH,it will pop loose. |

I had to use a pickle fork on one of mine when I put on new UCA's after the balljoint separated during removal, when the joints bad it can get pounded in there pretty tight |

If you have the top of the shock assembly back in and loosely bolted, you can use some rachet straps to pull the clevis back into place. Put one on each side of the clevis fork and the other end over under motor area on frame somewhere, you can pull that bugger right into place. Once you get it back in, put a jack under LCA and put some pressure on that top arm, then try to bust the UBJ loose again, it should pop out if it has some presure on it. If all else fails, put he unut back on the balljoint and pound a little on it, just don't flare the end too much. |
