I am running the Rancho rear shocks I forget what number 175005 or 174004 whatver the rear is. If I switch to a long travel shock will I gain more articulation and contact with the ground? If so what kind of rear shocks should I look at? |

Longer shocks could give more articulation. If they are to long you wouldn't be able to fully compress and you could also loose a rear spring if you let it droop too much. Best to stick with what is known. You could disconnect your shock and measure full compressed and then drooped at what point your spring is about to come out and get a shock within those specs. |

The Rancho 17004's are actually a bit to long for the rear of a KJ(by about 1/4"). you will max out the tri-link and still have shock left with the 17004's. Don't look at the rear bumper but look at the gas tank skid.............. OME rear shocks............... ![]() Skyjacker 2.5" extended shocks................... ![]() Rancho 17004's................................

It just felt like I was maxing out the rear today and I was on what seemed to be a crossing a stock KJ could have stayed on all 4s crossing but I guess it was just my perspective, So basically the 174004s are the longest I can go. Thanks |
