So since Rancho stopped making struts for the KJ, there are basically two options.. OME or Bilstein, right?

Are both the exact same length as stock struts at full extension?

Are the Bilsteins stiff?

Which of the two would be likely to last the longest?

Anything special needed for installation or will both work with factory plates and isolators?

I'm asking because the Bilsteins are $100 less per pair (which shows how insane the OME prices are).

All front shocks are the same length
OMEs are great shocks for the front
Bilstein is as well as far as that goes, so its going to be a personal choice

Been meaning to PM you and see how they were doing. I know you've had them on for a while and was thinking about trying them in a month or so.

I had Rancho 17505's with my Daystar lift. They were a definite improvement over stock. However, when I pulled off the Daystar spacers to replace with OME 927 springs, I found that the Ranchos were blown. Local 4 Wheel Parts could get the Bilstein shocks overnight, so I went with them. Much better ride. But better than what? I went from blown Ranchos and a Daystar spacer to new Bilsteins with OME HD Springs. Of course it would ride better. My personal opinion is that the build quality of the Bilstein shocks to be higher than the Ranchos. But Many have put tons of miles on Rancho with not a single issue. I can't comment on OME...

i like them more than the rsx's

the tunability is great soft or hard , you loose about 1/4" down travel in the rears compared to the rsx's. i was lucky and got the Myride for free when i ordered the 4 replacement shocks from my guy in San Francisco even though it was a US only promotion

rockymountainsusp.com lists a Rancho RS5000 shock for the front of a KJ for $47 each, or a RS9000 I think for the front of a KJ for $139 or so.

Is that a typo? Ranchos for the front for $47 each??

I have OME HD on mine and I beat the hell out of them and they still keep on working. I have never used the Bilstein but they should be good too...I would think.

The RS line is a way cheaper line of shocks than the RSX's or the 9000's better to go with a better shock
