Post subject: | Dim headlights..... |
Hello everyone! This will be my first posting to L.O.S.T! I love the wealth of knowledge here. I've owned my jeep for the past year, since I have purchased it I have noticed that the Headlights leave alot to be desired. i.e. very dim. I have 13.5 volts at the battery ( optima leak proof ) so It isn't a voltage issue. I'm wondering if I should just replace the headlight bulbs. Has this been known to make a difference? If so, what bulbs should I look into? |

Sylvania Silverstars are very popular. Do a search on the forum for Silverstars. PIAA and Phillips also make replacement bulbs that are whiter. The replacement "white" bulbs also don't seem to have the sharp cutoff of the stock bulbs. |

A lot of folks replace them with Silverstars. I did and they were noticeably whiter / brighter than the stock bulb. Be warned though...some people complain that the Silverstars don't last as long. However, I have had mine installed for 2 years with no problems. |

i have the silverstars, and i like them alot, i've had them on many vehicles, however, the liberty headlight itself, meaning the reflector and lens are a problem also, with the sharp cutoff that occurs at the end of the light beam, i hate it! |

So would it be safe to assume that there isn't a cheap or fast fix for the lack of headlight power, because of the design of the reflector? |

dano, short of replacing the entire headlight assembly, you could try the silverstars...they are WAY better than oem bulbs. has anyone replaced the entire headlight assembly? if so, what did you get, do you like it, and from where? |

I just threw a set of SilverStars in. I have to wait till tonite to see if they made a difference. If they don't I'll probably go with a HID conversion kit. |
