Has anyone had this happen, Today while out playing in the mud I turned my Lib tight as if to make a u turn and the front wheels locked upand made this horrible grinding sound. When I went back to 2 wd and turned again it happened but after driving staright for a few hundred feet it stoped. Made a tight turn in 2 wd and no grinding seems to happen only in 4wd. Is there a turn radius limit in 4wd? ![]() Thanks for all the info on this site. |

Binding is pretty common in 4wd. However, your tires must have had some traction or it wouldn't have occured. Not too sure about the grinding sound though...mine grumbles at me from time to time but nothing too scary sounding. |

if she is under warranty, was the underside, and take it in, and tell them it did it while you were pulling the boat up the boat ramp or if in snow land, going up your driveway in snow ![]() Mine have never done that unless I had the locker engaged and it was in 2wd on a hard surface. But it did not make noise, she just didn't want to turn |

Yea I dont think that it normal. The only thing i can figure is it wasnt in 4wheel good and was trying to go in. Put it into part time and give it plenty of time to go in, then try to turn, dont do this on blacktop! |

Hopefully everything will be fine. If you were on pavement then the sounds you heard were most definitely binding. Never ever ever ever drive (especially turn) on dry pavement in part-time or low. Have you tried putting it back in to 4wd since? Try it on a dirt road or trail and see what happens. If there aren't any bad noises then you may just be okay. |

Hi I know when i 4x4 i always make sure I'm coming out of 4WD before hitting the pavement. That should be the first thing in your head before doing so. I know it's easy to get taken away with the moment, but You always need to be thinking and anticipating the road changing while you 4x4. The same goes for changing 4wheel hi into 4wheel low you want to change before it's to late. the thud might have just been your wheel hopping upn' down due to the binding.I'm no pro but gaining knowledge as i go. |

![]() I'm sure it's fine. It's not good to make a habit of taking tight corners in 4WD on dry pavement, but every once in awhile won't kill it. And then to take it out of 4WD, it does take awhile driving straight to get it to disengage, that is normal as well. Just remember to put it in 2wd when going back to pavement or take really wide corners (or only go straight) and you should be fine. |
