Post subject:  Extending Breathers
Plan on going to a place with lots of water(Pine Barrens). Someone told me I should extend breathers but other say by the time water is reaching stock breather tube placement, there will electrical issues before water in the diff is an issue.

So I need some input. I

Okay, I always value your input so, gonna do what you tell me.

Question 1- Are all of the breather tubes the same size?

Question 2 - Should I do only the diffs? Or do I need to do tranny also.

Question 3 - Where should they go? Does anyone have a good picture showing the path of the new hoses?

I just raised my rear diff breather cause it seemed the lowest and most vulnerable. The others were up towards the top of the engine which is definitely plenty deep enough for what I plan on going through. I have a KK though, KJ might be similar.

First off - yes they are all the same size. Get 5/16 (I think) fuel line tubing and some O ring clamps. There is debate on here over whether you should go all new line or add to the existing line. My original line was in good shape, so I just added on. Search for the topic on here, there are explicit directions and discussion over some year changes, etc. I believe there is a full parts list as well. There is even pictures to "show" you where they are. You'll need the brass tubing connecters, I forget their exact name, but the post I mentioned will have this listed as well.

Second - 3 of the 4 are really easy to extend, so just do them all. It took me like 30 minutes to do the 3, I haven't done the fourth yet, but plan on it.

Third - like some others on here say, it is cheap insurance.

Okay, tomorrow since I have the day off Im going to work on this project, gonna run the truck to Napa and take the hose off there so I can be sure to get the same. How much ft did you guys order when extending your tubes does anyone know?

I truley extended, not full out, replaced and I bought roughly 18ft. I was a little liberal with the amount of line, but I didn't want to kink the line. I have roughly 3-4ft left to do the last line (transmission), So I maybe should have gotten a couple more feet.

screw it 20ft should be enough if not ill buy more. gonna play the install by ear/year idk never really knew which context its suppose to be lol.

make sure you give yourself enough slack on the rear diff for when your fully flexing. I extended my rear all the way up to the fuel filler neck and the front diff is at battery height.

jmichaelsjeep is correct, the size is 5/16s and the hose you'll need is fuel line.
