I just ordered my JBA UCAs and some moog lower ball joints. Also found some moabs for a decent price so all that is all on the way!!! I talked to Heather at All J and talking to her about the frankenlift. She says that the kit works just fine with the stock bump stops and that the teraflex kit is not needed at all. She said she doesn't know who is telling everyone they need it, but she gets asked that a lot. The lift will be ordered on Monday. I really want the JBA coilover, but I can't justify the price. If I'm going that route, honestly I feel I should have bought a Rubicon. SO... here's the plan, the above mentioned parts are all going on my 07 kj and I'm going to be putting 245/75r16 duratrac's on. I am going to go with that size to minimize complications. I'd really like to run 265's but it seems that there is a lot more involved in removing trim and all sorts of stuff, and since it's a DD I don't think the loss in gas mileage is a very wise choice. Are the differences in running the two different sizes all that great in terms of performance? Gas mileage is obvious, as well as wheel well clearance, but what about off road driving? Am I going to see a big difference with the little bit larger tire? I don't do any crazy rock crawling or anything like that, mostly just trail stuff on the free weekends. I plan on in the future adding bumpers and skids, all that heavy stuff so I know that I'll need to replace some springs in the future. I want to know if adding a 3 ring clevis and extra isolators in the rear is something I should just do anyways and if I do that, then do I need the teraflex bump stops? This is surprisingly confusing for something that is really seemingly simple. I've seen a LOT of pics of Tommudd's KJ, and honestly, it seems pretty much perfect in terms of what I want to do, but I think to get to that level, there is a LOT more customization that I just don't have the time to do nor the money to pay someone to do for me. Any help would be appreciated.

As has been talked about 100s of times I will argue the point with AllJs and Heather. Nothng against them and i love Heather shes a great lady! So choose who you listen to and if you want to throw some cheap insurance into the mix It has also been talked about a lot about extra clevis from the beginning. With a new Franky its going to be pretty well maxed out until it is broken in. You "could" run into problems doing it right away. And no ones will be as perfect as mine, no matter waht you do! Extra upper isolator in the rear levels it out |

Haha... we can only try, right tomm? Ok then, bumpstops it is, extra isolators in the rear are a go, wait on the clevis for a while. Guess I should just go ahead and put some hockey pucks in there as well. ( I have to right? Otherwise the jeep won't be mine because I didn't drill a hole in it.) |

How about driving around for a while with the H/D springs so I don't have to swap them out when I get the heavy stuff put on? |

If you go franky, I almost guarantee that you will not be able to do 3 ring clevis from day 1. It comes wayyyy tall, I broke two ratchet straps trying to get the clevis back in. Driving around with HD springs and no heavy stuff. I hope you have a good chiropractor.

Do the left side first, its the hardest one to do, with the battery etc then the shorter CV on that side will want to hit, wrap a heavy rag over it so you don't catch the boot. After you do the left side the right one falls right into place!!! Make sure you have strong ratchet straps, not the little wimpy ones that some try and use. I have a set dedicated just for this particular use! |

you guy's are nuts i used my knee and my hands to put my clevis back in, pretty sure what i did was get the top bolts on a few threads then put the clevis back together and HD springs with no heavy stuff, yeah it's stiff for about 2k but i wouldn't say chiropractic stiff |

Yeah I just decided to go with the standard frankenlift springs. It'll keep the wife happy and I doubt I'll be getting the heavy stuff really soon... just an air tank or compressor and some tow hooks (ie not heavy) for a while and I should be good to go. Probably will look into some skids in spring or summer... And thanks tom... it's little bits of advice like that, that will keep me from grabbing the sledgehammer. |

When you are refering to heavy duty ratchet straps, are these what you have in mind? ![]() http://www.uscargocontrol.com/Ratchet-Straps-Tie-Downs/4-Inch-Ratchet-Straps |

I agree with Heather... just sayin'. I roll MOAB a couple times a month and never had problems but I do acknowledge that it's not keeping with the spirit of over-complicating things. |

Good for you Of course I guess wheeling anywhere but Moab doesn't count does it! Just because you go there does not make you a special kind of wheeler you know. More idiots there than anywhere else. My bumpstops have been used several times before. But then I do my own work on mine so I see those kinds of things ![]() just sayin' |
