Today on the way home from work as i started her up I hear a strange sound. When I gave it a little gas, the sound went faster, and got louder. Can anyone be of service?

Thanks,
Andrew

if it knocks, answer it ? :o

how's your oil change habits been, ever ran it hot, etc? whats the current oil look like and what not

it's always next to impossible to diagnose something via youtube clip or something, but yeah sorry feller that ain't good

it doesn't appear to be trembling at idle, chances of it being valve related are fairly small, ya need to start pricing motors if you intend to continue driving the kj

I wouldn't trust it for general transportation knocking like that

Personally I was thinking he should drop it off with a pile of money and we'll cram a viper v10 into it.

Throw enough money and parts at something and anything is possible.

Hey Andrew. What is the status of your Jeep? Are you getting rid of it, or repairing? I see you are selling the rails, are you getting rid of other parts as well?
Hope things work out for you, but just wondering...

-Jeff, only the rails for now. It seems that they are the least needed cause well they arent even on lol.

As for selling or rebuilding, not a clue. Have an apt for the 15th at the garage. We shall see what he says then. Im thinking if the $ is gonna be in the $5k + range, than it makes sense to scrap it, part it out and pick up something else. Maybe a TJ, dont know yet. I figure I can take the lift and tires/wheels off along with the skids and hooks, and see if I can get some $ for those parts if that is the road I choose.

It will help a little. I have a 95 maita it was stolen from me 5 or six years ago. It was involved in a police chase, the guy who stole it got away. But police found the car and called me in the middle of the night to come and pick it up. Ever since then it has a top end noise after it sits over night. I put one quart of lucas in at every oil change and it did make it quieter and is still running after 5 years. But I don't think it will work to long in your case.

Well if anything go on ebay find you a motor for a grand or two and do the swap yourself. That is what i would do an engine hoist is about another 3 to 4 hundred but can be re-sold quickly. And it can all be done with hand tools. Just ask wildman how hard it was to remove the motor.

Yeah Lucas works that well. I use it in all my junk engines. But I use nothing but amsoil in all my good engines. Lucas and 20w 50 will take care of just about any engine noise long enough to sell it.

Just make sure it is your engine first
bad cats make make a heck of a rattle as well, sounding like the whole bottom end is coming out
Motors or good ones are more than a grand. Cheapest I found was 1200 with 100,000 miles and no warranty
found some with 30,000 for 2400/2500
have it checked first and make sure though!
