so i got new tires (245/70/17) and i do have the full ome lift.
this is most likely a stupid question but..when i turn to a certain point i hear this loud noise.
it sounds like popping i guess..?
any clue to what it is? i was thinking it was the tires hitting the ucas i am not a jeep expert.
thanks for the feedback!

Do the easy stuff first...
Take the wheels off and re tighten everything.
After the KJ has the wheels on and is back on the ground re tighten the swaybar links.

Check, pinch weld area for tire contact, and UCA contact to spring !!! like Chris said " make sure every thing is tight" !!!

update: i went and check my tires and it rubs against my swaybar links.
don't really know if i can do anything about that?
another thing...yesterday out of nowhere my jeep just cuts off.
the lights and my stereo were on but the engine cut off.
nothing came on like the engine light though.
it has plenty of gas and all the fluids are fine.
have any ideas, heard of any similar problems?

Hi,
Could it be the crank sensor on the way out? You need a 'read' of your computer to find out. Know anyone with a ScanGaugeII or similar? I have one in mine and it is great!

i took it to the my mechanic earlier today and that is what he said it could be.
it didn't read any codes though which is weird.
he just told me to watch and see if it happens again.
i was just asking in case somebody had another possibility of what the problem could be!
thank you for the response!

I had a similar noise happen to my KJ but mine was more of a metal hitting metal noise and it was horrid. And for me It was because my sway bar was loose.. I had a previous CV joint replacement and they had forgotten to tighten the sway bar... maybe check into that.

I'd have to go out and look but I think that if you tire is hitting your swaybar link... Something is messed up....
anyone....

well it is not hitting it all the time but just when i make really sharp turns...like if i am doing a tight u-turn.
it just makes the popping sound until i turn the wheel a little less.
any solutions though?
i just got these tires and figured there wouldn't be any problem since people run 245/75/16 and these are 245/70/17s.

I could say just don't make really sharp turns
but that would make sense so I will not say that
even the Wranglers have to make some changes in the way you turn with larger tires
common sense to me :banghead:

Yeah with the wranglers we just adjusted the turn-stops till you couldn't turn that tight :P

it could be any number of things, loose swaybar, tire kicking the liner around which can very OFTEN sound like metal popping, the two big spots are the foglight access doors, and the pinch weld.. by all means, get a crayon and scrub it, the tire will remove the crayon where ever it rubs, a quick puff of rustoleum on the uca's and sway will show quickly anywhere the tire rubs there

with lifts, changes in angles, larger tires, even though the 245-70's are a slightly smaller tire, particularly in P series the sidewall width will be wider than the same size tire in a stiffer/higher load rating tire and may rub places you wouldn't think it would

The 'popping' could be the treads of your tyres catching the little flap at the front of the inner guard behind the fog light position. Mine does that at full lock sometimes with 235 tyres!! :pepper:

thanks for the responses!
yeah, it really is not a big deal to me.
as long as something does not break soon, i'm good. =]
if i cannot make sharp turns it is fine.
i'm still going to trim down the sides though. just in case.
thanks again!
