I took my KJ to Firestone to get it aligned because I had been hearing a pop on the front passenger side whenever I locked the wheel left and gave it a little gas to turn. I also have very stiff and heavy steering, where the wheel continues to stay in a turned position even when i let it go coming out of the a turn.

They checked it out and said I had missing bushings on both sides that were not attached to the control arms. They quoted me $100+ per bushing and $100+ for labor and said if I didn't get them replaced, my rack and pinion would eventually go as well. I looked through the service manual and didn't find the bushings they were talking about. So are they lying to me? and would missing bushing be a cause for the heavy/stiff steering?

I've had my OME + clevis lift for around 12K miles
