OK don't shoot me because i've REALLY searched for hours and hours and never really found conclusive information that would give me what I need. I want to put some type of locker in the from of my 05 Liberty CRD, now it will almost never be climbing hills or mud bogging ( though i would love to, being realistic ), but snow and ice are a big concern. I need great road manners, as the wife drives it 70 miles a day roughly to work. My questions... Would a powertrax no slip or lock right work? If so what negative affects would be found if on FRONT only. Any difference while in 2 or 4WD? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks, Ryan |

if money is not an issue for sure go with an ARB air locker. when you want it locked you flip a switch.. when your on road you cant tell its there when it's unlocked. but its pricey since you need a air compressor.. lines.. switches.. more lenghly install since it replaces the carrier and air lines need ran. It money is an object a lot of people use Detroit True Trac's in the front. |

Well money is a pretty big factor 4 wheel parts will install a truetrak but for the tune of 1200 bucks and having my jeep in the shop (one vehicle family) doesn't really seem good, plus the cost. I have the tools and shop to do something like a powertax or the like and at around 400 is a lot easier to convince the wife department. Also would only NEED it 2-3 times a year. Also I hear on the back could cause traction problems if throttled around a turn, wondering how that would play out on the front. |

Think hard about doing a Detriot if you are in snow and ice area. I have not been in that type of area with mine but have been told many times to be careful if I do go. |

You only get really 2 choices for the front,neither are cheap.The ARB and the DTT(LSD).Scratch putting a aussie or any other luchbox locker up front as you will have to pull the diff to install anyways as the center pin has a roll pin holding it in and not a bolt.Forget about a auto locker like the regular Detroit locker if you ever plan on using the fulltime option in your t-case,same goes for the lunchbox lockers,as it will make steering nearly impossible. I highly recommend the DTT,I had one up front and it kicked a s s in the winter time and offroading(ARB in the rear). |

My front DTT worked great in the snow last year. Made a big difference. |

Thanks for the advice, even though its not what I wanted to hear. I would rather hear now and save time and hassle, then learn the hard way. Sad day indeed, oh well. Thanks for steering me clear from possible big mistake. |

What is the spline count and ratio in the front end of our KJs i know my rear is 3.73 with 29 spline count. Also does anyone have any experience with the Eaton E-locker and are they worth it or not? |

It is a limited slip, which is less aggressive and more streetable than a locker. I have one in the rear and it is awesome. You can get them for the front and the rear. I didn't get the Eaton E-locker because when it's not locked it's completely open. I don't want to fuss with switches on rainy or snowy streets - I just want it to work. |
