Ok, a bunch of my parts have arrived and the lift is in tracking number limbo at the moment, but should arrive soon.

I've been reading A LOT on this forum and kjcountry and have asked a few "over-asked" questions. The thing is, I haven't put anything on the 07 stock gasser yet and I think that I already want what everyone wants... more lift. I'm already getting greedy with height, but don't want to break 4".

SO... after a frankenlift ii premium (using HD927s in front), JBA 4.5 UCAs, teraflex bumps front, 4 hockey pucks rear, 2 isolator pads rear (one each side), and Moog lower ball joints later I'll be sitting right where most frankenlifted KJs are at with about 2.5" of lift. NOW... I have OFTEN read people mentioning 3 inches or more of lift... including Mr Mudd. I've asked about clevis lift, boiler plates, double extra isos in the rear... Tom you say that a stock NEW frankenlift is about max height before risking CV damage and that I should wait for the springs to settle before clevis lifting or top plates. So adding those after the springs settle, it basically just puts you back where you started at about 2.5" of lift which is apparently max before risk of CV damage occurs. Your KJ obviously has more lift as shown in the comparison pics with your kj and 03CDKJ's, I believe. You advertise 3.75 if I remember correctly on yours. Are your CVs shaved? They need to be if you're breaking the 2.5" barrier right? Or is there some other thing going on like a cradle drop?

How hard is it to get the CVs shaved? Would it be more prudent to purchase the heavy duty ones that jeepinbyal advertises by J.E. Reel at $550 each? Or are those unnecessary and the stock shaved ones will work fine for about $235 less each. I want to know what needs to be done to have 3-3.75 inches of lift with the frankenlift as a starting point. I'm planning on ordering some Cooper Discoverer SSTs in 265/70r16 and have a set of Moabs to put them on, and within 6 to 9 months have an ARB bumper, winch, air compressor, rock rails, and full set of skid row plates except for the gas tank, I'll roll with the boiler aluminium one to reduce a wee bit of weight.

CV's are very hard to get shaved down and you can't go just anywhere to do it. Talk with Rock Lizard or TJsKJ. They tried to get it done for my JBA 4" lift and it didn't work at the place he thought could get it done.

I am tired, very tired,
you answer questions from experience, you answer them time and time again and yet we end up back to square one each and every time! Why is that? Is it really that hard to understand. Its only a lift, not rocket science
For the last time, today I suppose.....
The frankenlift when new is about max height you can go/ or want to go at first ( as it been mentoned 10,001 times before  ) NOW after it settles some you (maybe) able to add some depending on your setup.
Its best to run for a while and see how it settles in. As far as my lift unless you have had yours in Mudd's Garage it won't have the special sauce that others have! :pepper:
By the way 03CDKJ is still dreaming of trying to be higher than me.Also no shaved CVs don't like to even think about them, no sense that I can see. Cradle drop  whats that never heard of such a thing, bad idea. Also 3.75 inches of lift??? That's old news! A good 6 months at least, new lift, new products, new things to try and also try somewhere about 4.5.
That's after lifting it with new springs etc. running it for a while, adding some to it, running for a while, tearing it apart and trying new things....now are you getting it, its not all at once,

But I know I'm wasting my time so thats why I am just having fun talkiing to myself

Tom you're a funny guy, and have far more patience than most. I have been reading HOURS of posts and really do get what your saying about repeating the same info OVER AND OVER again... honestly after all that reading I start to feel the same way thinking, "Dude three posts before you just asked that." and it happens consistently. So I truly do apologize for the constant nagging.

I don't know, maybe I'm retarded. :banghead: I'm failing to see in simple terms, how above a 2.5" franky risks the cvs yet adding things to it to make 4" doesn't risk cvs (after it's settled i guess)... when you say 3.5" - 4"+ are you not accounting for settled sagging springs or something... so it's really at the stock franky height? Maybe I just need to move to Ohio and work on a few of these with you guys in a shop or something... I'm much more of a hands on person anyhow and my brain is dead from insane work hours (at least i'm working though) in the game studio. Maybe I'll just take a road trip to you guys for a lift party after the current title ships. :JEEPIN:

Well the first mistake is in assuming the Frankenlift gives youonly 2.5 inches of lift, its more than that to start for sure. You're going to be getting 3.50 at least from a brand one -vs- new stock KJ so now seeing it a little clearer?
Its like the OME coils they advertise 1.5 inches or 2 inches of lift maybe and you get about 2.50-2.75
nothing is as it seems at times.
Be back later to discuss the finer points of KJ lifting, had to drive ten miles just find somewhere with internet to discuss......lifts :-)

Oh and being a Rev. you have to have patience with the congregation
Rev. Mudd
down and on the side until later
have to work on tomorrows sermon

x2 i had typed basically that post lol

basically, if you built one that would settle to 4, it would ride at 5ish, and sound like a rail road car clacking

i originally built mine to be 3" after settling, during break in my cvs sounded like bells - not particularly a good thing

~2.5" is about as bad on the cv's as a sagged stocker

just the nature of the cv beast, nothing is really good for them

Hmmm... interesting... interesting indeed... so I guess the number of listed inches is all really kind of irrelevant. Perhaps I'll start measuring the degrees that cv bends to measure the lift. Regardless, frankenlift will be here Tuesday supposedly according to tracking number, so in a few weeks, that's what's happening.

Franky Premium 2
JBA UCAs (do you recommend grinding out the sheet metal around the pockets like mentioned on the JBA website?)
Moog Lower Ball Joints
Teraflex Bumpstops
1 extra isolator pad either side in the rear
4 Hockey Pucks (2 each side)
Cooper Discoverer SST 265/70r16 mounted on step side Moabs (which are apparently cast, thought they were forged)

We'll see where it goes from there. :ALONE:

Rest assured, I'm doing my homework... still reading.

Hey I've got a question for you... I just did the Franky 2 premium with Al's 4.5 UCA and 2 rear isolaters for each side. I put the rear bump stops in that came with the kit. Should I use the 2 hockey pucks per side instead???

Thanks!

Actually...

Machining CV's is very easy!
As long as you have the proper equipment.
I did mine at home on my metal lathe without any problems what so ever.
It took all of ¾'s of an hour because I was picky!
Any machinist worth his salt can do it!
