Post subject:  Problem with your ARB bumper?

Hey all, heard a rumor and need to address it and fix the problem or squash the rumor.

Has anyone receive an ARB bumper for their KJ that was missing a welded in bracket?

Now this isn't an add-on part missing out of the fitting kit, but an actual bracket that should have been welded onto the bumper itself and was not. As the rumor goes this has supposedly happened to many KJ owners and is a "known" factory defect.

If so, please speak up and answer.... Did you contacted ARB about this. Do you remember who you talked to and what was the solution?

AND anyone claiming to have had this problem, can you show any pics?

Again, not looking for someone missing an add-on part that was not in their installation kit, but an actual mis-welded problem.

Sorry for the interruption, I just heard about this today and want to find out more. Just want to make sure our prouducts live up to their reputation.

I just installed an ARB bumper on my 05'. The only problem I had was the wiring diagrams colors didn't match up to what I saw on the harness. But I was able to figure it out with a meter. It looks great!

I've never heard about it, and I check the forums nearly every day for the last 6 months. In fact the only bad thing I have ever heard is about the weight which would be hard to avoid on a steel bumper.

No problems with welds, but I would like to address a weak area on the lower front of the bumper that managed to bend into my winch cable spool. Had to pull it out, then welded in a section of angle iron to reinforce it.

Email me a pic of the damage and what you did to fix it, maybe we can have engineering look at it and add a little extra beef.

Thanks for having a good forum to come to. I surf and lurk every now and again to see how everything is going, but don't have much time to be able to visit and chat often.

We just hate when we hear unfounded rumors and want to find out whether there is any truth to them and figure the best way to find out is to visit the top forum for whatever vehicle we happen to be checking into.

Cheers all! and if anyone has Qs or concerns, please feel free to give us a ring, send an email.... Or if you're in the area, stop in and say hey.

Good form Tim. I'd like to second that appreciative nod toward you and ARB.

I think we have definitely squashed that rumor here, on the only forum that KJs owners need. Mind if I ask where the rumor started? Was it an online forum? Could it have been a competitor trying to make life tough for ARB by posting fake claims? How many posts had the claimant made on that forum?

Regardless, ARB is where all of us will continue to go for ultimate protection.

Not to hijack the thread, but can we get an official weight on the bumper from ARB?

Actually had a guy with the problem stated and as I told him that this was very rare, but mistakes do happen, he went on to tell me that this is a common occurence and a "known factory defect" and it is all over the internet, especially the KJ forums. SO I figure where better to check it out than the LOST board.

-MMJoe- I've been on this forum before, just not in quite a while as Seth seems to be able to keep you guys happy.

-vxla- Our Official ship weight is just under 150lbs, so figure 30lbs + for packaging, so that bar should come in around 100-110lbs with all brackets etc.

Never seen a single complaint on the ARB bumper with regards to defects or problems actually with it. The only thing I have ever seen on this forum is the weight issue concerns for KJ's.
