Just took the Liberty in for its 39,000 km tuneup, and to get that power steering leak looked at (warranty will cover it they assure me). $420 for the tune-up ( ) and they have to order in the new power steering rack, so I have to take the Liberty back in two weeks. They told me the Sway bar linkage needs to be replaced. Anyone know why that would be, and exactly what they mean? This Jeep has only 39,000 km on it (about 24,000 miles I think). They said it would be covered by warranty. So far my lower ball joint are within tolerances too. Keeping an eye on them till I can afford an upgrade.

Just curious, I have about 34000 km on mine now.
What do they do in a tune-up for $420 besides change plugs?

I emailed Daimler Chrysler Canada to ask them what a tune up is, exactly, and this was their response:

We have received your email of February 12, 2006, regarding your 2003
Jeep Liberty.

We must respectfully advise that, as the manufacturer, DaimlerChrysler's
authority lies with warranty concerns. Any technical information from
DaimlerChrysler Canada is distributed to our dealer network.

Further, we must stress that dealers who sell and service
DaimlerChrysler products are independent business enterprises. As such,
the administration of dealership procedures and practices is controlled
by the dealership management and they establish their own prices for the
parts and services they provide.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to review this matter with you.

Sincerely,

Laurie Whitesell

I would like to know exactly what a tune-up is.

Could you describe the processes involved in a "tune-up" on a 6 cylinder
Jeep Liberty. I can't find a consensus about what is involved and what
it should cost. Thanks

Why do they make it sound so complex? Why cant they just say "we dont know?"
