Hi, I'm planning to upgrade my KJ. It is model 2005, 4x4, 3.7L, Automatic transmission, lifted and all the skids, mud terrain tires (BFGoodrich), ARB bull bar and a winch (plus all the camping equipment!!). The upgrade consists in changing the gear ratio. It actually has the 3.73 (if I'm correct) and planning to install 4.10. I'm checking some parts and brands and I would like to know if you have comments (positive or negative) about G2 Axle parts (ring and pinion)? Cheers

Cheers ![]() Fairly positive you won't be able to install the G2 gears up front. IIRC the only company that makes gears for the D30A is Dana-Spicer. Regular D30 gears won't work. Rear end won't be a problem, though G2 gears don't have the best reputation anyways. |

X3 have been shopping around 4.10s and ruled out G2, and other places with Motives or Genuines after reading reviews of Yukon's stuff for rear (ended up getting these over Superior Gears for the price - $200 vs $340). Having a heck of a time finding the fronts here in Canada - but US is the same deal with availability for the D30a because of that longer pinion. The only two ways to get front 4.10s is to find 4-cyl KJ parts in yards/warehouse that had them stock or order the Dana Spicer D30a (I believe 84006-5 Dana Super 30 F set). A gentleman on the boards here sells just what is needed http://www.automotivepartsunlimited.com/ Now rear axles - am weighing Superior chromoly vs. Yukon carbon steels but will do like Tommudd and slowly accumulate parts over the long term when deals can be had (no rush to re-gear and redo diffs with lockers - lots of other projects first). Am doing most of the upgrades you list in your OP... and more. Not cheap but am really excited at what this Jeep will be like by summer! Just Empty Every Pocket |
