I see a lot of people using Frankie lifts, but no one ever mentions the JBA 2.5" lift with the "Adjust-a-Struts". Seems like you would have a great ability to dial in the height?

Anyone tried it? I called JBA and of course he had a lot of good Koolaid to drink.

I think Digger has them or tried them, maybe he will chime in. I don't think ya see them because of their high cost. At any rate they are a very cool product. :JEEPIN:

There's a full review/slash photo build on here.

Apprently, the kit comes with instructions from another manufacturer to add to the intallation fun.

I just put this lift on a few months ago and so far I love it. Rides good, install was easy. The instructions were definitely from JBA and not another manufacturer. This is the only lift I've ever done though so I can't really make comparisons to what else is out there.

As for adjusting, I adjusted the struts where I wanted them when I put the lift on and haven't messed with them since. I probably won't until I do my front bumper later on in the year. They told me to come in for an alignment every time I make an adjustment.

So you're happy with this lift kit.
Did you bought the 2.5" stainless steel brake line kit?

Yes I'd say I'm happy with it. No I didn't get the brake line kit, maybe someday. The stock lines seem fine for now.

Does the JBA lift allow you to raise the lift enough to keep from having to use top plate spacers?

Its adjustable you set the ride height so more or less no you would not need them but......
something to remember is that with OME springs you'll be right at 2.5 inches, adding top plate and small 1/8 inch clevis gives you about 22.5 so maybe you want the 4 inch JBA lift to put you about 23

Just on the subject of the adjustalift front shocks, I seem to be getting a lot of emails (well 1 or 2 a day)from Marlin over the last few days regarding these shocks; how easy they are to fit, how great the ride is afterwards, and stories from users who've fitted their KJ with ARB bumper, Skid Row etc, and recommending them.

It seems that he's going on a bit of a marketing offensive :D

I have an alloy TJM mod 17 bumper, and Skid Row armour; I'll be fitting RL rockrails when I can afford them and maybe a rear bumper when I can afford that. I have no intention of fitting a winch. No one that I can find has ever lifted a KJ in England, so even if I go the OME route, the local OME importer will have to import the parts especially for me (assuming I don't import them directly myself). From those who know (tommudd and anyone else with experience) is there any advantage in my buying the adjustalift front shocks and rear OME/Bilstein(shocks and springs), or do you think I'd be better off just going the OME spring lift route with either OME, Bilstein or Koni shocks?

I know that this is a matter of opinion and personal taste, but I'd be grateful for any views. If I'm having to import stuff from the US/Aus, its important that I get it as right as possible the first time!

Lancer,

well no lifted in the UK, I have found 3 today and yes it's very rare and they where all Gassers. I am lifting mine next week ( CRD Frankenlift + Boiler Top plates + Clevis rings + 2 back to Isolators) and I am a CRD and as you say I have imported the lot fron US & Germany.... i haven't ordered Adjustable Struts....let's see once it's all fitted how it feels

Hi Pippo

I'd be interested to know how it works out. The Jeep specialists I'd spoken to around London had all lifted XJ Cherokees, but all shook their heads when I told them I had a KJ model.

I do like the look of the adjustability of the JbA adjustastrut system - I just wonder how much adjusting I'd ACTUALLY do once it was fitted! Given that my bumper and most of my armour is already on - and as I said, I've no intention of ever fitting a winch, I don't know how useful it would actually be to me.

tommudd,
I am not really looking to go higher than 2.5" with the whole CV issue thing. And even though the clevis spacer and upper plate work well, I was just thinking that it would be easier to not have to pull everything apart if and when I get a little saggage...

Also,
I see that the JBA lift comes with Skyjacker rear springs. Have people use OME instead? Any reason to swap?

if they're the jba25 rear springs then they're fine, little longer - little heavier than the 948s

I am the one JL Rockies is referring to. I think I was the second CRD to put the JBA A-A-S Lift on, and he did not have instructions specifically for the install, but supplied me with a set of Skyjacker lift instructions. Since then he has updated his instructions and also has some Youtube videos detailing the install.

Here is a link to my install: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=53361

I have been very happy with the lift, and it has hardly sagged at all (maybe a 1/2") in the year that I've been running it. Here in the next 6 months or so I will be getting new tires on Moabs, so I will dial it up a bit then and get it realigned. To me, that is the advantage of the JBA lift. You should never have to replace the components - they should outlast the life of the Jeep and Bilstein will (supposed to, anyway) replace them if they fail in the course of normal use. If it sags, turn the collars a notch or two and you're good to go. It rides very, very well. Not pillow-soft or anything - the setup gives you a feeling of being much more connected with whatever surface you are driving on.

Let us know how the installation goes, and I guess we'd all like pics of the before and after! :D

I have a Rough Country 3" lift on my 03 Jeep Lib. Now that I have had it for over a year I have decided to go with the JeepinbyAl 4 inch lift. I haven't had any trouble with the rough country lift other than rear tire rub when I'm 4 wheelin in Colo. around Ouray. I started out with Goodyear MTR's with Kevlar 265R 75 16 with Mickey Thompson 16 x 8 wheels. but I had to buy some 245 75 16's on vac. in Colo. so I could 4 wheel without tearing up the jeep and 265 tires. I bought the lib new in 03 and plan on keeping it for 4 wheeling and weekend runarounds. I have upgraded the brakes, kn air filter, rock sliders, roof rack, westin front bar and magnaflo exahust cat back. I know the Jeepinbyal is alot of money but I want to do it right. I would post a pic but haven't figured out how to do it.

I agree about doing it right first time. My grandparents (who I find I'm quoting more as I get older!) always said that "we're too poor to buy cheap". Notwithstanding that they always told me that, I STILL had to find out for myself the hard way a few times when I was younger  Its always worthwhile to take the time to get the money together to do the job right the first time - saves a lot of grief and money in the long run.

Alright, I've been running the JBA 2.5" lift for a little longer now and have a few questions. Maybe those of you with a little more JBA experience can help me out.

Right now I'm sitting at about 21.5 and 21.25 and feel like I have these things cranked down pretty good. If I would have gone with the 4 inch JBA, could I have the collar all the way at the top and be sitting at 22 or less? 22 is pretty much where I woukd like to be to be about level with the rear. How compressed is too compressed on the 2.5"? I put an ARB bumper on last weekend and the ride height up front didn't budge.

swyszomirski wrote:

It doesn't seem to me like you could use top plate spacers with these very easily. The bolts are pretty short, at least on mine, and are welded to the top plate. Has anyone tried this?
