Still getting a binding popping noise on my libby in low range coming down a hill in first gear. Replace cv's both a year ago. A loud clunk is showing up in the situation. Also replaced leaking pinion seal a year ago and have the same leak again. Wondering if pinion gear is moving in the diff causing a clunk and premature wear on the pinion seal. Need help or advice before going to my mechanic. Don't want to get hosed.

Doesn't sound like the diff at all, but the classic sound of a t-case chain slipping.

standard tranny? sure it's just not the slack in the gears?? We have a 6speed KJ at work that I"ve been driving for the past month. I'm used to it now but when I first started driving the 6speed it would clunk a lot in first when going real slow, but it's just normal noise.
