2006 CRD frankenlifted and im looking to remove, or know how to remove the sway bars should i want to at rausch creek. Im not exactly sure what im looking for, since they typically dont look like the ones im used to from pick ups. So could i get some pics of the sway bars and the bolts to remove them that would be greatly appreciated :D

From what i've looked at in the rear there seems to be a big chunk of metal that runs from end to end on the suspension components, and im assuming that would be the sway bar but i want to be 100%. For the front i have no idea what im looking for.

Thanks again guys! and for the record i did search but couldn't come up with any definite results. :banghead:

This is the front, The Bolts that hold the front sway bar at the bushings to the frame are 18mm, then remove the bolts from the lower control arms that hold the Sway links to them. I have to tell you tho depending on how aggressive you are off-road you may not see much of a difference by removing the front. If tho you put on a set of Daystar strut mounting plates you will gain down travel by removing the front sway bar.

The rear sway bar being removed makes a big difference off-road and you will see little too no difference in the road handling of your KJ.

The rear sway bar bolts on to the rear lower control arms, you can see where the bar used to mount towards the body end of the lower arm in this photo.

Removing the front esp. on a CRD will be doing nothing more than asking for problems. In the front it will allow for more droop but will also let the CVs go down farther and cause issues. Not worth what you think you owuld be gaining. The rear will give you a little more flex but just depends on if you want to remove it or not.

Okay I think i'll keep the front on then, i dont want to risk any CV joint issues. I'll go look to see if i can find the rear, i had a trusted family friend and mechanic install the frankenlift and im unsure if he put the sway bars back on. To remove the rear sway i'd just unbolt and take it off right? I dont feel like messing with anything else back there right now :lol:

Yeah i found it back there, it blends in too well since i havent cleaned the under carriage recently
:oops: . But i think im going to remove it this afternoon or tomorrow. Thanks for the quick reply's and thanks tom for the pictures to help!
