Has anyone removed a stock roof rails and attached a roof basket ?
how do you do it ? does anyone have any ideas for me or even better diagrams or plans ?

removing the existing bars is not hard. The key to making it easy is to have your new basket match up with the existing holes. Now the hard part that I found on that is matching the multiple angles (front to back and left to right of the roof. My basket isnt as elegant as TJKJs but with my limited tools and experience, I'm happy with it.

There's several options out there

Your first obstacle for removing the stock rails is realizing the bolts that hold them on are hidden inside a "clamshell" sort of area, need a wide thin screw driver, pry tool, or paint scraper to pry the two halves apart to access the bolts

if you need/want something temporary.. get a long piece of 2x2 aluminum hollow square bar, cut it in half and U-bolt it on.. won't give you a basket but it'll give you rails to support a load off your roof
